    New Snus Guy

    Greetings!
I just ordered some snus for the first time. It should arrive soon. Currently I smoke one cigar (Punch Maduro Double Corona) and chew Husky Long cut.

Read some real bad stuff about the chew and thought I'd try Snus. This is a great forum and have gleaned a lot of good information.

Can't remember all the brands I ordered, But one of them is Ettan. How do you think it will compare to my current chew?

I didn't know what size Ice Tool,so I ordered a 3mm and figured I could use it two times if I want to. Does that make sense?

Can't wait till the snus arrives.
I would certainly appreciate any input you guys have.
    Thank you.

I'm not familair with the non-cuban Punch, but I'm assuming it shares some of the spiciness of its ISOM namesake? Can't comment on the chew, but if you enjoy a spicy cigar I think you'll be very pleased with some of the characteristics of snus.

I found Ettan a little mild, but Goteborgs #1 and the new brand Diplomat that I'm trying as I type I've found to have a lovely peppery flavour.

Did you order the Northerner try out box or something similar?

      Re: New Snus Guy

      ragman,
Being American, you are used with a lot of strong artificial flavors, from food to snuff. You will find that snus has a more delicate and more natural taste than snuff. When it says "cranberry" on snus, you expect that it will taste like some candy or cough syrup of sorts, but the flavor will more delicate than you expect it,
The cut and the texture differs between snuff and snus, but you will find out that soon.
Switching to snus will reduce your intake of carcinogens by 100 times, but snus is not safe. Then again, one may also get run over by a donkey drawn cart on the streets of Walla Walla, i suppose.

Yeah, loose snus is a bit of a trick to get used to - more so than chewing tobacco or dips you put in your lower lip. This is mostly because the pinch of snus can tend to mush and get everywhere when it's under your upper lip. It may take a bit of practice to get the snus to stay in place comfortably. Otherwise, it's a brilliant switch - welcome to the world of snus

Dave - Punch is indeed very spicey.
anweis - How did you know about the donkey thing in Walla-Walla? ops:
Zero - Thanks for the snus welcome.
Thanks for all the input. I can't wait to try snus!
