FRANCE: 'We are going to lead a war which will be pitiless'

Hollande: 'We are going to lead a war which will be pitiless'
    Washington Examiner ^ |

French President Francois Hollande promised early Saturday morning that France would respond to terrorist attacks that killed more than 120 people with a "pitiless" war against the group responsible.

"We are going to lead a war which will be pitiless," he said at the Bataclan, the site of one of the attacks, according to the Guardian.

"Because when terrorists are capable of committing such atrocities, they must be certain that they are facing a determined France, a united France, a France that is together and does not let itself be moved, even if today we express infinite sorrow," Hollande added.

Hollande's remarks came after what appears to be the biggest terrorist attack ever on French soil, and some emerging signs that the Islamic State is responsible.

They also may pose a challenge to the Obama administration, which has faced increasing criticism about whether its plan to "degrade and ultimately destroy" ISIS is working fast enough. Secretary of State John Kerry was in Vienna Friday for more talks about how to handle the Syrian civil war, which has been credited with creating the conditions for the Islamic State to thrive there.

"These are heinous, evil, vile acts," Kerry said in response to the attacks. "Those of us who can must do everything in our power to fight back against what can only be considered an assault on our common humanity."

Apocalyptic scenes as Paris hit by multiple attacks

Sirens blaring, blood on the roads, weeping relatives: nightmare scenes played out on the streets of Paris on Friday night as at least 120 people were killed in simultaneous attacks.

Pierre Montfort lives close to a Cambodian restaurant on Rue Bichat, where one of seven attacks took place in a night of bloodshed not seen in decades.

"We heard the sound of guns, 30-second bursts. It was endless. We thought it was fireworks," he said.

Another witness described the scene: "For a moment, we could only see the flames from the gun. We were scared, how did we know he wasn't going to shoot the windows?"

Florence said she arrived by scooter a minute or so after.

"It was surreal, everyone was on the ground. No one was moving inside the Petit Cambodge restaurant and everyone was on the ground in bar Carillon," she said.

"It was very calm -- people didn't understand what was going on. A young girl was being carried in the arms of a young man. She seemed to be dead."

English translation of La Marsellaise (the national anthem of France)

        Arise children of the fatherland
The day of glory has arrived
        Against us tyranny's
        Bloody standard is raised
Listen to the sound in the fields
The howling of these fearsome soldiers
They are coming into our midst
To cut the throats of your sons and consorts

To arms citizens Form your battalions
        March, march
        Let impure blood
        Water our furrows

What do they want this horde of slaves
        Of traitors and conspiratorial kings?
        For whom these vile chains
        These long-prepared irons?
Frenchmen, for us, ah! What outrage
        What methods must be taken?
It is us they dare plan
To return to the old slavery!

        What! These foreign cohorts!
They would make laws in our courts!

        What! These mercenary phalanxes
Would cut down our warrior sons
        Good Lord! By chained hands
Our brow would yield under the yoke
The vile despots would have themselves be
        The masters of destiny

        Tremble, tyrants and traitors
The shame of all good men
        Tremble! Your parricidal schemes
        Will receive their just reward
Against you we are all soldiers
If they fall, our young heros
        France will bear new ones
Ready to join the fight against you

        Frenchmen, as magnanimous warriors
Bear or hold back your blows
        Spare these sad victims
That they regret taking up arms against us
        But not these bloody despots
        These accomplices of Bouillé
        All these tigers who pitilessly
        Ripped out their mothers' wombs

        We too shall enlist
When our elders' time has come
To add to the list of deeds
        Inscribed upon their tombs
We are much less jealous of surviving them
        Than of sharing their coffins
We shall have the sublime pride
        Of avenging or joining them

        Drive on sacred patriotism
        Support our avenging arms
        Liberty, cherished liberty
Join the struggle with your defenders
        Under our flags, let victory
        Hurry to your manly tone
So that in death your enemies
See your triumph and our glory!

'They are cutting us down one by one': Chilling Facebook post of man trapped in Paris theatre where

An injured hostage inside the Paris theatre described how the terrorists were slaughtering ‘everyone one by one’ in an attack thought to have killed at least 100 people.
Benjamin Cazenoves, one of those held captive during a rock concert, wrote on social media: ‘I’m still at the Bataclan. 1th floor. Hurt Bad! There are survivors inside. They are cutting down all the world. One by one.’
He added in another Facebook post: ‘Alive. Just cuts... Carnage... Dead bodies everywhere.’
Reports said that French security forces had successfully stormed the building, freed the surviving hostages and killed two terrorists thought to be among six or seven who perpetrated attacks throughout Paris on Friday night.

France's only aircraft carrier to leave for Middle East on Wednesday

The only aircraft carrier in the French Navy’s fleet, the Charles de Gaulle, will leave for the Persian Gulf on November 18, to join the fight against Islamic State in the region, Paris has confirmed.

“The naval group will leave Toulon (a major French naval base) in a few days, on November 18, to arrive in the Persian Gulf in mid-December,” government spokesman Stephane Le Foll said, as cited by Le Figaro.
France announced the deployment of its only aircraft carrier against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) on November 5.
“The deployment of the battle group alongside the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier has been undertaken in order to participate in operations against Daesch
[ISIS] and its affiliate groups” the French president’s office said in an issued statement.

“The aircraft carrier will enable us to be more efficient in coordination with our allies” President Francois Hollande said, adding that it will “bolster Paris’ firepower in the region amid international efforts to launch Syrian peace talks.”
France started its airstrikes in Syria in September, a year after it launched similar operations in Iraq. It is now using six Rafale multirole fighter aircraft stationed in the United Arab Emirates and six Mirage 2000 fighters deployed in Jordan.
France carried out about 1,300 aerial missions in Iraq with 271 airstrikes destroying more than 450 terrorist targets. Only a few airstrikes have been carried out in Syria.
The Charles de Gaulle is the biggest European aircraft carrier. It is also the only nuclear-powered vessel of this nature outside the US. The vessel can deploy up to 40 fixed wing jets and helicopters including 12 Rafales. The Charles de Gaulle has already been used against the IS militants in Iraq – in February and in April, 2015.

BTW, France has LOTS of nukes. Big ones. Enough to turn the entire middle east into glass. Just though I'd toss that out there.

They are also a NATO member country. Ya all should be familiar with Chapter 5 of the NATO agreement:

This principle is enshrined in Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which states that an attack on one Ally shall be considered an attack on all Allies. NATO invoked Article 5 of the Washington Treaty for the first time in its history following the 9/11 terrorist attacks against the United States.

Think there's a chance that it will be invoked a second time?

              Just asking...

BREAKING: Syrian Refugees From The Muslim World Are Arriving In New Orleans

After the Hayride broke the exclusive story on 10,000 Syrian refugees possibly resettling in Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Metairie, it has now come to light that refugees are already coming into the New Orleans area.
Catholic Charities, which receive federal grants from U.S. Department of State/Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration, have apparently taken in two Syrian refugee families already and are expecting many more.
There are approximately 180 cities in the country that are eligible to accept the 10,000 Syrian refugees. Here is the full list of those cities, which includes Baton Rouge, Matairie and Lafayette:

Confirmed! Paris attackers... Syrian refugee's! Passports found near bodies of suicide bombers

A Paris suicide bomber who was carrying a Syrian passport passed through Greece as a refugee in October, according to a Greek minister.
The passport was retrieved from one of the suicide bombers who blew himself up outside the Stade de France stadium as part of last night's coordinated attacks, which killed at least 127 people.
The passport holder, who is understood to be 25, passed through the island of Leros of October 3 as a refugee, where he was identified ‘according to EU rules’.
But Greece’s deputy minister in charge of police, Nikos Toscas, did not know if the passport was checked by other countries through which the holder possibly passed on his way to France.

                    Great reporting sir!!

This is a mess that has the potential of becoming a much bigger mess. I think the only solution is to close the borders to these nations (regardless if they are coming direct or via Europe)
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Just two days before the Paris attacks, 50,000 Polish patriots stand up to say “No” to Islam

Paris has changed everything for Poland but even before the Paris attacks, her patriots joined together to say, Enough!

As the rest of Europe is rolling over and playing dead for the swarms of barbaric Muslim invaders their leaders have willingly invited into their midst, the Poles are saying a loud Nie! to the continents suicide.

Just two days before the Paris attacks, around 50,000 Poles gathered in the center of Warsaw to show the world and the European Union they will not welcome Islam into their country and they have loudly affirmed, We are a Catholic Christian country. There is no place for Sharia Law in Poland!”

The European Union has been pressuring the Poles to absorb the animalistic waves that have pushed Germany to the brink of anarchy since they started arriving early last summer. The poles have resisted.

Things in Poland are beginning to move at an increasingly rapid pace. Just weeks ago the Law and Justice Party took control of the country with sweeping and convincing victories. Now the people are demanding their new government take firm measures to demonstrate to the European Union that they mean business.
The huge gathering was addressed by firebrands from within Poland...

Romney: ISIS 'a cancer that metastasized' under Obama's watch
                        Washington Examiner ^ |

Mitt Romney is blaming President Obama for "doing the minimum" to fight the Islamic State.

In an op-ed published Sunday, the 2012 Republican presidential candidate criticized Obama for having said "we have contained" the Islamic State in an interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos one day before a series of attacks hit Paris, for which the Islamic State claimed responsibility. Romney said the U.S. needs to "eradicate" the Islamic State, not contain it.

"The president was right when he called the Islamic State a cancer," Romney said, "but it is a cancer that metastasized on his watch. Paris is proof."
The U.S. year-long airstrike campaign has not been sufficient, Romney added, and called for military experts from the U.S. and NATO to create a comprehensive strategy that would incorporate the forces of the Kurds, Turks, Saudis, Egyptians and Jordanians.
His remarks come as France launched airstrikes against the Islamic State on Sunday, carried out in coordination with U.S. forces, in retaliation for the terror attacks in Paris that left 127 dead and over 350 injured.

Romney decried the Islamic State's propaganda campaign and urged Muslim nations to come together and "immediately engage in a sustained global campaign to promote tolerance and eschew violence."

Romney also addressed the potential threat of the stream of refugees escaping conflicts in the Middle East, one day after a Greek official announced that a Syrian passport was reportedly found near the body of one of the gunmen responsible for the Paris attacks. A Greek official announced that the passport was processed on a Greek island in March.

"The West must stop the insanity of welcoming hundreds of thousands of people from the Middle East without knowing who exactly they are," Romney said.

"Only America can lead this war, and that leadership means being willing to devote whatever resources are required to win — even boots on the ground," Romney continued. "We have the best-equipped and most dedicated military for good reason. The president must stop trying to placate his political base by saying what he won't do and tell Americans what he will do."

World leaders have taken to calling ISIS “Daesh,” a word the Islamic State hates.

World leaders have taken to calling ISIS Daesh, a word the Islamic State hates.

Since the attacks in Paris, both John Kerry and Franois Hollande have used it. The Kurdish militants battling ISIS in Iraq already use the term regularly, though they risk loosing their tongues by uttering it.

Daesh is an acronym. It stands for the Arabic name of the Islamic State: al-Dawla al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham. When Jen Percy, a New Republic contributor, went to northern Iraq this year, the Assyrian Christians waging a war against ISIS were calling ISIS troops Daesh. In her article for our September issue, she called it a pejorative term for ISIS in Arabic.

I'm all for that, and happy to see more people using DASH/DAESH. I would be in favor of people using something even more offensive to the scumbags, like "Women Who Read".
