    Hunting Season!!!!

So excited for opening day on Saturday. Here in Oregon, one has to be drawn in a lottery in order to hunt buck deer in eastern Oregon, and I got drawn this year with my father in law. With any luck, I'll bag me some venison, and maybe a few grouse while I'm at it. I've got the groceries, a big bottle of Sailor Jerry's rum, a bottle of my Dad's homemade marion berry wine, and a lot of snus. I am ready to go, but I don't leave till tomorrow. Wish me blood!!!!

    Good Luck man.

Hunting season is only in for Bows right now here in GA but once rifle season opens im with ya.

My family has 250 acres here in greenville Ga thats full of deer.

Ive been wanting to go hunting so bad that me and a friend grabbed our 4-10s and went squirell hunting.

Sure, some look dont upon hunting but ive never poached in my life and was raised to respect nature and that hunting serves a purpose.

Sucks you had to go through a lottery though. Hell if you lived here man youd could go hunting whenever you feel like when its in season.

Good luck hunting man and bag a big'un

Good luck, I'm gearing up for rifle season here in TX. Have a good time with the father in law. I'm taking my daughter this year and am hoping that she bags her first deer this year. Oh how hunting brings families closer together :!:

Lottery huh? Here in WI they force hunters to take a doe before they can take a buck... There is an abundance of whitetails here...

There are around 600 deers in Dortmund to hunt each year and 560.000 inhabitants. A lottery would be a good idea (LOL).

Wonder, why hunting is not more than a hobby for rich weirdos, where I live?

Apart from that, I wish everyone who lives in a less crowded area good luck ("Waidmannsheil!" in German). Hunting is far more "human" than livestock-keeping, nowadays. I allow only vegetarians to argue against hunting.

          Cheers!

It's bow season here in Arkansas as well and it's also Bear season. I'll be doing more cold weather fishing rather than hunting, though. We have some great autumn and winter fishing in The Natural State as well as some killer hunting. I might venture into Boar hunting this year. We'll see.

Thanks all for the words of luck!! Well, it was a tough season this year, no one in our party was able to bag a buck. The mulies were odd this year. Usually you will get at least some bucks/spikes running with the does and fawns (and there were a ton or them), but there were none to be seen, and there were a lot of does running around by themselves, which also hasn't been common in the past. Its so frustrating to be scoping a herd of 17 deer and not be able to see horns on any of them. Oh well, it is what it is...I had a great time nonetheless and was able to get out in the wilderness and see some descent wildlife while I was at it. Good luck to all who are about to embark on their own hunting trips soon!!

There is an abundance of whitetails here...
Whitetails are protected here in Oregon, it sucks.

Only one species of squirrel is legal to hunt in Oregon, and there is a specific season for them.

Hell if you lived here man youd could go hunting whenever you feel like when its in season.
I am sooooo jealous man!! Its too bad that out of state residents have to spend hundreds of dollars to hunt in other states. Cest la vie.

The season for Squirrels here ( grey squirrels ) is from Mid Sept. to Early Feb.

Whitetail. Bowseason is late sept - first week in dec, then closed for 3 weeks and reopened last week in dec to 1st week in jan.

Me doesn't hunt but I was curious if any of you guys were full-time smokers before and now just snus. Don't know if that would contribute to stealth or not but it seems to make sense.

I use to use american dip when i hunted.

Smoking would be bad because they could smell you a mile away.

Use to have a scent proof spitton i bought from cabelas for hunting

It does make a difference. I would dip when I hunted (as a smoker) but the smell on your hands and clothing would still give you away if you're upwind. This will be the first year I hunt as a snuser so we'll see. I'll still probably use a cover scent or odor eliminator when I hunt even though I'll be off the ground.

Yes...snuff dipping is almost synonymous with hunters. Any hunter that smokes on the hunt is making it pointless for himself to even be out there. There was always something about having a nice fat dip in and shooting a gun back when I dipped. Now it's a loaded gun and a snus. Ahhh, love it. If it's in my sights, it's dead. The .243 never misses.
