Question!Swedish people, especially swedes in Stockholm!

I'm going to visit my relatives in Stockholm in a few weeks. I've heard stuff about snus and really would like to buy some.

The thing is, i've heard that you have to be 20 years old to buy snus. Can't be that old, really?

And if it is, are the shopkeepers really strict about checking your ID?

I turned 18 a few months ago and would hate to leave Sweden without any of that "lip candy".

It's normally 18 or 16 in the EU. I don't think Sweden is an exemption. Sweden is more of a nanny-state than other countries, but 20 seems ridiculous.

Yeah, I know, you have to be 21 in some states of the U.S. to drink a bottle of beer, but believe me, the U.S.A. is certainly the only country in the world, where you can lose your life, serving in the army, before you get the chance to "threaten your health" with a glass of beer or a pinch of tobacco.

BTW, I don't know, if there is at least a theoretical change to serve in the army at the age of 17 or even earlier in E.U.rope. I had my mandatory medical examination at the age of 17, but did not have to serve in the German Air Force until I was 19, which was 20 years ago anyway, so it all could have changed until now.

Yeah, however, I guess you won't have any problems to get snus in Sweden. The "Land Of The Free" is the biggest nanny-state of them all, as far as I can tell. You won't even have to show your passport in Sweden for snus, I guess. Alcohol is another topic though. Even adults have problems to buy it in Sweden. They have some kind of prohibition going on since many years - and it works (LOL) - at least in the sense that everyone has to drive to Norway or Denmark to get alcohol.

Just my 2 Cents to the topic, I've never been to Sweden!

Our Swedish members certainly can tell more.

    Cheers!

When I was there, snus was easy and cheap to get. Alcohol, yeah, was cripplingly expensive. 90Kr for a simple bloody mixer! :? 18 is the age, though, so you shouldn't have any problems.
