Is a petition what we need?

Ok, i have noticed a lot of new users on here posting about their trials and tribulations with snus.

The general consensus is that we all love snus, but it may turn out be a pain in the a** later on to get it depending on this bill.

I think we all agree its a great thing American companies are creating snus and getting invovled but compared to its swedish counter-part these brands are sub par at best or too sweet.

Do you all think we should get someone to draft a formal document to be sent to Phillip Morris and RJ Reynolds expressing our opinions and concerns?

If so let me know or just reply on this thread.

Sending one to Philip Morris and RJ Reynolds could be a good idea.

I think another option would be to get something goin to swedish match, about expanding the selection that is sold in america, who knows...

Swedish Match is loving the idea that Americans are discovering Snus. I think they are on top of things but there just isn't the customer base here in America... yet. The American snuses are wonderful business for Sweden. Why? because people see snus in the convience store window and look it up on line, they find us and say SHEET! wow I gotta order the real thing. Knowledge about snus is expanding. When Camel goes nationwide, I expect a pretty good bump in Sweden's business. It's so darn difficult to advertise and therefore educate people about tobacco in America with the advertising regulations.

Trust: American companies can (and do)sweep the tobacco off the floor and stick it in a can. Its not regulated as a food substance. Swedish snus is. I can't find any ingredients on any American dip cans. We need to send that petition to big American tobacco to model its snus after Sweden. Post it's ingredients and nic content and at least self regulate it as food grade. Get it through their thick skulls that we like tobacco but we like our health too.

Will they listen? If they want it to take off they will. Another good idea is to sponsor a forum like snuson write the dot com on their cans. Great advertising. (look at the business Toque is getting off a few posts on this forum and it's not even snus!)

I could go on but i'll spare you. Yes a petition would be a good idea. Word it carefully.

What Sentry was saying about the american companies and the sweeping of floor tobacco, and the fact that they won't put their ingredient list on anything is actually the main reason why i can't seem to persuade myself to look into the marlboro/skoal snus... I've tried the camel crap... and i was far from impressed... Big american tobacco is a shady business... and if knowing what was in the snus would potentially kill sales, they'll do anything to keep it a secret...
