It helps to put the whole story in context.

Like for instance the current trend to try and rationalize immoral behavior. It is not so surprising to see this story in the context of Los Angeles. It seems the more inflammatory and degrading you can be in reference to old fashion values the more "points" you score in the American liberal community.

If someone hung Obama in effigy they'd have one hell of a time defending it as "art." However homosexuals apparently can do this to a female vice presidential candidate and scoff at the fact that anyone would question it's tastefulness.

I'm still in shock Palin went on SNL after they performed a skit implying her husband had impregnated her daughter in an incestuol relationship.

I'm actually starting to believe in the "media" conspiracy to break down social morals and values. It seems lately if you can hide behind a shield of a "protected class" you get carte blanche to assault whomever you choose with no fear of repercussion.

It doesn't have to be tasteful to be art. Hanging a politician in effigy is an extremely old form of *protected speech* that's guaranteed by our Constitution. I couldn't care less if the artists are queer, their right to express themselves is god(read everybody's birth right here) given. Anyone trying to infringe on their rights, offends my libertarian sensibilities.

I still don't see what their sexuality has to do with anything. There's a lot of latent homophobia on this forum that sometimes surfaces, I find it quite upsetting.

My comment exploiting baseball terminology was made purely in jest and not rooted in phobia. If others on the forum seem latently homophobic perhaps I haven't noticed. I generally feel the term "homophobia" is used out of context to paint everyone who, for one reason or another, disagrees with the lifestyle. In voicing that opinion sometimes levity is added to an uncomfortable subject.

Homosexuality really was just an observation of the larger disturbing picture. It is a pretence to drastically changing morals and values.

I say this not implying that homosexuals lack values. I have homosexual friends who I could say fall into the Log Cabin description somewhat. A close friend of mine actually volunteers much of his time campaigning for our local elections. My aversion to his sexuality is a fact in our friendship and is treated as a disagreement between friends.

Like any facet of society some people in a generalized group are more or less offensive than others. The same observation could be made when generalizing any group by only using some as an example. Claiming that group off limits to scrutiny or jokes is out of line.

That being said I am personally not homophobic. I do not, however, agree with the choice of lifestyle personally. My values do not agree with the conduct embraced by such behaviour.

The thing that irks me about that video was the defence of the "art." I personally am Independent politically. Given our current political choices I am sure to vote Republican though.

I am troubled by the personal attacks on Palin and her family and believe wholeheartedly that the majority of negative campaigning is being done by the Obama campaign. I also find it troubling that anyone who raises questions or doubt pertaining to Obama's legitimacy as a presidential candidate is subject to the same attacks.
