Anybody ride a scooter or motorcycle?

I recently got a permit and my SYM HD 200cc. Unfortunately, I skidded making a right turn from a dead stop 20 mins after buying it and caused some cosmetic damage. Luckily, I'm okay, and the scooter's mechanically sound. Needless to say, I'm taking it slow and practicing in my neighborhood, and I'm also signed up for an MSF class that will count towards my endorsement.

I'm very much looking forward to be able to ride more confidently and safely around in traffic and commuting. Any other riders on the boards?

I must say though, snusing makes riding my scooter (and my bicycle for that matter) much better than smoking.

As you might figure from my userid - I ride BMW's (and have for about 20 years).

Just take your time and always remember that the folks in the car's DON'T SEE YOU! (even if they're staring right at you)....

I want one at some point, but I'm not incredibly sure it would be safe for me to do so. And winter riding doesn't seem like much fun.

I want to buy cocsp one for our 5th anniversary next year.. and since he's out to sea for the next few months, I can ask this.. what's a good sport bike for a beginner, but something he'll be able to ride for a few years before he gets bored with it? Any suggestions would be appreciated

Yeah. I ride an electric scooter with a Lithium Ion battery I put together from discarded laptop batteries. It has under 35% of the charge of the cells when they were manufactured, but it charges quickly and still has a better weight to energy ratio than lead acid batteries.

I got a used one from someone who had lost their batteries to sulfation and fixed it up. It's worked very well, probably saved me a few hundred in gas money (electricity is free since I live in a dorm!).

I have a tendency to fall off of/wreck anything that has less than four wheels.

                      Examples:

-drove a three-wheeler (remember those?) into a tree
-drove another three-wheeler into a lake
-rode into a dip on a dirtbike and launched myself off of the bike and into a bush
-sat on a friends bike that wasn't even running/moving and fell off of it into a shelf full of tools

                      :x

                        SV 650
Believe me, if you are pushing an SV650 you wont get bored with it. I bought my 05 brand new and 3 years later I still love it as much as when I bought it. And I have no trouble keeping up with my friends on their 600s (unless we hit a long straight away). There really isn't anything better out there for the money!

mercvrivs; Glad to hear you are signed up for an MSF course. They do a great job of teaching you to ride.
