I cannot believe that. How much money did you spend to get a 50cc motor to produce 20 HP. Even world-championship racing-bikes don't have so much power per ccm. There must be some measurement error involved. I guess you don't have more than 10 HP - which already is much for a 50cc scooter.

Besides of that 110km/h - that's something I believe and that's a speed that's possible even with a 10 HP scooter. I somewhat would have problems to pass you with my 17 HP Honda CB 250 (see my avatar).

    Cheers!

Btw, my Hysosung GV250 puts out 28 HP.

Even looking at it, no one believes she is just a 250. Reason why I love this bike so much. In a few weeks, my pipes will finally be ready, and with the performance kit, she should put out over 30 HP!!!

mercvrivs, a total of 1650 miles over 3 days
. A few of the senior posters on my motorcycle board did a week long tour of Florida aimed at being in Daytona for Biketoberfest. I couldn't do the whole thing but rode all night to catch them in Daytona Friday. Was an amazing trip.

I am planning a 6000 mile, 2 week trip for my Birthday next June, basically riding across country, over the Rockies to Bryce in Utah, then up through Jackpot, Nevada, through Idaho, on to Glacier, then up into Canada to Calgary, then back through North Dakota, Minnesota, etc home.

Yeah, the Hyosung in Korean. Years and years ago, they were on off shore builder for Suzuki, plus did a lot of engineering for them. The Suzuki C50 engine is really of Korean heritage. They broke off about 12 years ago and make some amazing bikes. Fit and finish is as good as the Japanese, but I have 11 more HP then any Japanese 250

beezle, I like small bikes. 21 years ago, I learned to ride on a 700 Interceptor. So I know what is possible. As I said above, MY 250 is unlike any other 250 on the market. I have enough power and speed to do what I need. Sure, I won't go much past 90 mph, but at my age, I really don't need to. Yeah, a typical 250 is underpowered and weak. But my Baby, at only 341 pounds dry with 28 horses, is NOT weak.

I got addicted to powerful bikes a long time ago but in the past few years have really enjoyed riding a much lower hp motard style bike too. Getting older too you know.

While my ZX-11 puts out quite a few ponies at around a buck fifty or so, the smaller Baghira only pumps out around +/-53hp. Some of the EU riders here might be familiar with the MuZ's.

This MuZ thing is so much fun and handles surprisingly well both street and trail. Hard to give up the big bore bikes totally though once accustomed, but I can see the appeal of the less powerful, but much lighter bikes too.

The MuZ really shines in the twisties at only 350lbs and I've given a couple 600's a run for the money when the spirit hit right (well, hit the right spirits I should say). It is a 660 cc one lunger so it's not nearly as powerful in the straights as the crotchrockets. Just talking bout it makes me wanna ride. :P

I remember riding a 280cc' go-kart in Thailand, and this year a sicker one. Im not sure about the ccs but damnit it went 130 km/h on the flat.

I was going to pass dad ones, and he went like half a meter to the right and I hit his deck and flew off the track, onto the grass and over on the other road. The speed we were holding was probably 70 or so. Pretty sick, and fun

Oh, Im not saying the SV 650 is boring, but it is a great learner's bike, and will have the balls to keep it interesting when you are more confident in twisting the throttle. my brother has a naked sv 650 and i love that bike. im really a fan of V twins vice I-4 bikes, and the sv is a supurb bike. hence the superhawk....also been thinking of the sv1000, but i think i have settled with either the ducati s4r or the speed triple....motards are awesome too...i love that new hypermotard but its too $$$$$$$$$

Yeah, the Hypermotard is a totally sick beast. That thing turns almost any asphalt into your own virtual dirt track heaven. Ever seen a bike do this kinda crap before? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXyV8JUj8m0

I don't even want to know what that thing cost.

edit: I just checked and it's under $15,000, which is doable if you're single, but I wonder how availability is.

i dunno i want a triumph street triple im tired of my vtwin's engine braking and relativly low redline at 11k and power at 72ish horses i think this is because ive ridden 600cc supersports and like the power too much plus the street trip has a much better suspension and better tire options 180's vs 160's which are fairly hard to come by in store usually a special order deal

Oh, i love the engine braking! different strokes....
as for the low red line rpm, i feel you

thats why i think the speed triple is a good option, its the best of both worlds

i have had/ridden I-4 bikes, and i dont like having to let the thing wind up to the stratosphere to get power out of it, hence my love of a good solid V configured engine. i just prefer a good solid power delivery all around vs. a top end hit that i, personally, rarely use (although i do appreciate!). my VTR was plenty bike for me, and the motor in that thing was awesome... had problems sellinjg it cause everyone is all super into I-4s and whatnot now. had plenty of people tell me "it's my first bike" and then almost in the same breath "im afraid it wont have enough power for me" well if you can get from 0-60 in less than 3 seconds and then top out at about 155 a handful of seconds later, and thats not fast enough for you....you need a contract, buddy.

but yes the street triple is awesome, but i like their engines and i like the daytona, and my understanding of it is that its a naked daytona...i havent seen any in the triumph store, but i have seen the KTM super duke (bad ass) and the local ducati shopp has about 4 hypermotards, but at 14k a pop, no thanks.

It all depends on what you like and what you need... kind of like snus.

I agree, each class has it's merits and drawbacks. With litre bikes you get world class power and easy trips to the ozone, but a heavy slug in the corners. Low end torque isn't a problem though and the power is right there regardless where the tach's at.

I doubt I'll be able to convince the other half of the revolutionary design and potentially historic importance of the new Ducatti Motard, so I guess I'm stuck with my old toys. Opposing ends of the spectrum but they keep riding interesting. Hate to say it, but this is one industry the US has almost nothing to offer.

edit: I'd happily settle for the Duke. :P

Haven't ridden in a while, bike needs little fixing after my wipe out few years back.

Planning on buying a motard within a next year or two.
