i'll start with the fact that i don't wanna offend anybody... but the way i look at it is that 200+ years of old white dudes haven't done a whole lot, lets give this guy a shot, lol. It's only 4 years, and nobody can screw shit up as bad as bush...

Yeah, seemed Obama had a lot of things to balance in his first appearance as president-elect. He couldn't appear to be a sore winner, nor could he appear weak. He couldn't appear too confident, nor could he appear too nervous. He couldn't appear too scripted, nor too ad-lib. He had to act and talk for the first real time like someone chosen to be the most powerful man in the world, in the spotlight of the world. I can't even begin to imagine the psychological forces at work there. Especially these days, with everything that's happening.

yea......hes probably just excited that hes getting a new dog.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Virtually all politicians are intertwined with the military-industrial complex and multinational corporations. I know Obama will not be perfect, however, he will be significantly less harmful than the McPalin party. I believe in harm-reduction voting.

OK, so I have nothing to add but this.

Wow, I am impressed. maybe change is around the corner. An interesting and thoughtful thread. I know not everyone voted for him, but I detect just a bit of hopefulness that maybe this won't be so bad. With all that has gone wrong in our world, that attitude pleases me.

I am cautiously optimistic. I don't expect miracles, but very much want to see our government here in the US stand up for competency. That alone will do much to help start fixing what ails us.

i don't get it. "hope" and "change" are buzzwords. professional histrionics. politicians, for the most part, are full of shit- so i'm distrustful of them. it blows my mind to see so many people buying into this total bullshit. i guess it's like sentry said....i have to live under it, so i might as well be optimistic....but he still scares the shit out of me. for instance, check these mother****ers out (Socialist International). In the process of having a convention in DC with some beltway scum....the heart of the beast....

                  we need to PAY ATTENTION!!!!!!

"The Socialist International welcomes the victory of Barack Obama in the U.S. elections and sees in it the hope for a world community based more on cooperation, mutual understanding and respect rather than antagonism and discord."

also, people are already saying, essentially, "well, if he fails, it's bush's fault", in addition to all of the conspiracy theory surrounding the election.

now, i am BY FAR no george bush fan or apologist, but george bush is either an idiot or an evil genius. you can't have both. take your pick.

as far as Obama is concerned----i 'hope' i'm wrong, and my opinion of him will 'change'.

if he is a kick ass president, i will be among the first to write him a letter of apology. for everyone's sake, i hope i have to write him an apology.

sorry for the ranting tirade, it just really gets me how much "talk" can suck people in. ignore me.
