mini pouches on average are 0.5g per pouch. I have used skoal bandits. Skoal bandits are more in line with snus large portion(1g/pouch).

Mini pouches will probably give a weaker nicotine kick than skoal bandits.

Plus that the price to weight ratio sux too.
On the plus side; because they're minis you can tuck more of those at the same time! E.g. two on each side of the lip.
And no, with snus there's NO SPITTING. Doesn't matter if you're new or veteran.

          Thanks for the responses.

So a maxi would be the same size of a normal skoal pouch? Also what is a white portion?

I still cant get over the fact that you dont have to spit... this opens up so many more places that I would like to dip but cant because spitting isnt really appropriate.

This could be the begining of a beautiful relationship. Order shipped today, so hopefully it will get here next week, cant wait!

Snus pouches come in 3 sizes; mini, large, maxi (although the names might vary). The middle one is the normal one (1 gram per pouch).

White portions are either made differently or with a slightly different pouch material, dunno exactly. The pouches stay white instead of turning brown and there's less saliva production/spittle, it gets less runny or gets runny later on and it releases its flavor slowly/lasts longer.
I *slightly* prefer brown portions but you should try both and find out for yourself.

yeah, the white portions are just dry portions - regular portions are moisurised when they're produced but white portions are mady by putting a pressed pellet of normal snus into a dry pouch and just sealing it without moisturising the pouch.

To me it seems that the moisturised portions 'hit' at bit harder than the dry (white) portions. But on the other hand - the white portions can be held 'uplip' longer due to the slower flavour releasing and less saliva production. I use both types, its all good.
I used minis in the beginning but only did four cans or so before entering the big league, and now I never use them anymore. To expensive ... also, they feel pathetic in your mouth when your used to the large fellas.

It is a shame the mini's aren't cheaper (better bang for the buck).

White portion probably gives more of a slow-released(nicotine) effect a.

Got my snus today! Stuff is pretty neat. Its a little weaker than skoal, but a skurf strong on one side and a nick and johhny on the other solved that . I think I'll stick with those as my main suns, but the mini's are pretty cool for using in class and other places where dipping isnt really appropriate (since you can barely tell they are in there). Snus doesnt seem to make you salivate as much either which is cool. Still trying to get used to the whole no spitting thing. Only downside is the smell of some of them is a little strong (especially the coffee catchdry), had it in my pocket with a couple used ones and I could smell it all day.

Kudos to the buysnus guys too, I was kind of shocked when I saw it arrived yesterday (since it had to come all the way from sweden).

Well DUH! Catch Dry has some of the heaviest flavoring in snus. Especially used pouches can smell much stronger.

As a side note: somehow used licorice portions get a very unnatural, sickly sweet smell after a while which makes me a bit queasy if they're laying in an ashtray next to me. Buhhh...

I don't get charged any tax here in Iowa - at least none I'm aware of. And I really hope I didn't just jinx myself! I have heard of people ordering like 5 rolls and getting hit with a tax, but I never order more than about 12-13 tins at a time. I've also heard of people having to pay customs duties when shipping with UPS. If there are any taxes involved, I paid them to buysnus. I noticed their shipping cost has gone up a bit since the start of the New Year. Oh well, I'll have to live with it if I want my snus! Incidentally, Swedish Match doesn't charge shipping for orders to the US, but rolls cost around $35 each. I guess that's not bad for some of their brands, but even Kronan costs $33.50 a roll...that's ridiculous! Starwing can tell you how soon they ship/arrive - I seem to remember he has ordered from them.

Theres supposedly no tax for usa orders. But as I discovered on my last northerner purchase it seems like they break down how much tax they had to pay for the snus? and make you pay it. My last northerner order there was 10 dollars of extra fees not counting shipping.

I've 'pretended' to order from buysnus.com to see if they throw those shifty fees at the end and it seems they don't. Maybe they include them in the price of the snus from the beginning which would make sense as their single can prices are a slight higher than northerner single cans.

Once a U.S Government bureaucrat finds out we are getting tobacco tax free, it'll change. As for the price of snus, only going to get more expensive. Taxing tobacco is easy money for governments. Taxing tobacco makes the Government look like they are trying to protect us from ourselves, when in reality they just want the money. Enjoy your freedoms while they last!

Sorry, don't mean to sound pessimistic.

I guess, the U.S-government is already pretty aware of the snus imports, but since there are too few snusers in the U.S. at this moment, the administratory costs of a taxation would probably exceed the earnings.

In Germany, in fact, we have a local product, called "Kautabak", which means "chewing tobacco" and is somewhat similar to american chew - and it also isn't taxed, because of the same reasons.
