At this moment is the phrase. Snus will become bigger here, no doubt about it.

No idea about Austin or Camel, unfortunately...I'm sure if you sent camel customer service an email they'd be happy to show you where to buy their product
RJ Reynolds is being very tight with Snus samples, it is going to be launched USA nationwide by Summer 2007. I called theirt Snus 800 #
and chatted with a sweet southern gal and she informed me of the launch.

I hope Camel goes through with it. Summer will be here pronto. Wish they would try some loose snus but that might be too confusing for dippers making the switch. I'll bet a large portion of the guys trying the camel snus in Austin and Portland are sticking the pouches in their bottom lip and spitting like with a Skoal Bandit.

I placed a good sized order with Northerner last week. With regular shipping and the fees it came out to the same price as the UPS shipping. So I went UPS. I was amazed because three days later my package arrived. That's quite fast compared to the 8 days it took for my first order from them to arrive using their regular postage. I'm thrilled! Makes for much fresher snus! No taxes this way.

...joining in the snuss fun
It seems a while since this thread has been posted upon.
Of recent, several tobacco shops in the US are carrying the Swedish Match products but only a small sampling; General (loose & pouches) and some flavored minty/wintergreen flavored snus.
With shipping being a charge, I hauled off and ordered a roll of the General, loose. I figure that if nothing else, it will let me know whether to go stronger.
I figure that there is nothing quite on par with the good old US Copenhagen Fine Cut when it comes to strength. Unfortunately with the taxes going up and up, I recently switched to Grizzly Fine Cut. Not bad, but it's not Copenhagen Fine Cut.
So snus I will try! The fact that it requires no expectoration (that's SPITTING to you folks from North of the Mason-Dixon line  ) really got me interested. I look forward to taking a pinch of snus at work.
In the past I tried the Oliver Twist but the twist dried out very fast.
The Montecristo snuss... is this a tobacco (only) flavored snuss? This is what I look for; If I want candy, I'll have candy. I've read elsewhere on this forum that Cuban snus is verboten because of the US Gov embargo on Cuban goods. Hopefully this embargo will one day be lifted.
Thanks to all who have posted here, it has been quite educational. I appreciate the cordiality.

Thanks for the kind note, Phish.
So, my starter will be General Loose - mainly because General is the only non-flavored brand available in the US.
After reading about "baking", I decided to go ahead and invest in an Icetool so that's done.
What I figure is that snus will be less expensive than the average 3 - 4 cans of Copenhagen Fine Cut/Grizzly Fine Cut that I consume each week. Additionally, who knows what the recipe for Copenhagen or Grizzly is? Snus is seemingly a more pure product.
What do you suggest I try next if General doesn't 'twang my buds?

I feel like I've said this so many times people might be getting tired of hearing it But ettan is my favourite. It has a pure smoky tobacco taste without added fruit, candy, plants, minerals, chemicals or animals :P And the icetool is a good move, I can't live without mine.
Apart from ettan the usual suspects are nick & johnny, skruf and a few of the swedish match brands. I don't know if any of these are available in America though.
happy snusing!

Until snus catches on, I fear that freshness with US stockists/tobacconists may be an issue. I'd rather buy good, fresh product than convenient product.
After reading, the Icetool seemed like a no-brainer. You "pros" have it down - the rest of us have to learn from you!
