Mixed with champagne? Never tried that before! If I ever get my hands on any absinthe again I will definitely try that.
Whats your favorite bar drink? sorry for being off topic

Thanks to the good advice from this board I picked up a bottle of Ardbeg at lunch and will try some tonight. Looking forward to it.
Re: Absinthe, I've toyed around with ordering the Jade Edouard Absinthe, but have not gone through with it. I've done a lot of reading and perusing here http://www.absintheclassics.com/, it seems easy enough to order for delivery in the US.
I have heard that it's legal to possess in the US, but it's not legal to sell as a food item. Can anyone confirm or deny that theory?

I believe that your interpretation of law is correct. The 'real' absinthe I had was brought home in a suitcase (that was searched by the airline, as is common these days).
If you do some google'ing, you'll find that most articles point to just illegality of sale. Ownership and consumption is fine. Be prepared to possibly get hit with taxes, and make sure you look at the shipping cost and the actual volume you are getting.
I noticed that while the bottle price may seem reasonable ($50 and up), the shipping is normally the same price as the actual Absinthe!

The Ardbeg 10yo is nice - sweet-lemon and brine are the primary tastes I'm getting, a little smoke perhaps and mildly phenolic, and maybe a little pepper. It's pretty smooth. It resembles Laphroaig to me, but without as much smoke and less phenolic, and the finish is shorter. It doesn't seem to complex, but experimenting with the amount of water might change things.
I guess if I have to choose right now I'd still choose Laphroaig, but I think this is going to grow on me.

Those are about my feelings on it too. It's a very good whisky, but I didn't feel like I had to run out and buy another bottle after trying it. If you see it around, give Bruichladdich a try. It's on the mild side, and a bit sweeter than Laphroaig. I think I like it a little better for a summer drink. Laphroaig is one of my traditional winter whiskys.

Bruichladdich is definitely on my list, looking forward to it. The liquor store I buy from has a "wall of Scotch" ( my term ) that is impressive and they've been building their selection. They even have some Signatory bottlings, which so far haven't interested me but that might change.
It's interesting to have "summer" and "winter" whisky. I already generalize gin and whisky into summer and winter, respectively, but haven't subdivided whisky. Interesting.
I've been considering joining the SMWS but suspect that my tastes are too narrow to appreciate all that they'd send.

Crown Royal is huge in my neck of the woods.
My favorite thing to drink is Killians Irish Red. It's not the best I've tried but its good for a low price.
While snusing I like to dare my friends to take a Gorilla Fart. This shot is a quarter of the following... 151, Wild Turkey, Jagermeister, and Goldschlager Cinnamon. It will almost always make someone puke sometime during the night.

I don't drink much at all anymore, and very rarely hard liquor. I mostly drink beer once in a while, but only the good quality stuff. I really like a lot of the Mexican beers like Modelo Negro and like the Japanese beer Sapporo as well. Other than that, I'll drink stuff like Shiner Bock or whatever other imported beer that works for me. I rarely drink any American beer, but Amber Bock is alright.
