    camel "mellow"

I found camel mellow in maryland.

It tastes seriously like an exact replica of lucky strike, so I like it. may be a bit sweeter, but very similar.

It looks like Camel Mellow replaced the Spice and Original flavors. I'm curious and will probably buy a few cans of the Mellow. I heard Camel snus will be launched nationally in Q1 2009, so I'll just wait until my store gets it.

I may have to give it a shot. I like Lucky Strike. Maybe RJR has learned something? I have my doubts.

It may surprise you and be decent; nothing compared to the real thing, but it could end up being a viable alternative if you run out of Swedish snus. I'll try it anyway because curiosity always gets the best of me.

I plan to NEVER run out. Even if I have to resort to the stash of stuff I don't like. Anything less than 10 cans requires a new order.

I'll still try it just because if they did get it close, maybe the other American manufacturers will take notice.

Oh I thought you meant the camel signature blend mellow. I was going to recommend the robusts lol.

Still haven't been able to find camel snus anywhere.

I'm waiting for the Camel snus, myself....That's how I found out about the real stuff, and I haven't even been able to get any yet! I don't think I will be all that impressed, but it will be nice to have another alternative when I start to get low.

Trust me, at least before, it really wan't an alternative. In my poorer days when I did ocassionally run out of snus, eentually, I just bought a pack of cigarettes to tide me over. Just not even close to enough nic in the camel.

Perhaps you tried the older ones that had smaller pouches? The new ones have one gram of tobacco, instead of 0.5 grams like the old ones. I can't stand the taste of Camel snus though; hopefully the Mellow flavor isn't as sweet as the Original or Spice.

15 pouches is pretty weak, though.....and doesn't a tin cost as much as a pack of smokes?

Here in Ohio they run a bit under $4. That is in between the price of cheap smokes and Camel/Marlboro.

Stopped off at a gas station on the way to work and they were changing out the Camel Snus with the new 'mellow' stuff. I must admit I am interested, since every other company bringing out snus in the US seems to use Camel as a benchmark.

I was pondering this some more and... is it possible that by cutting "spice" and "original" and introducing "mellow", which to my taste is closer to a legit sweedish product(lucky strike) that they are trying to cleverly serve 2 masters?

keep the "frost" around for the curious but uninformed tobacco user, and "mellow" for the americans who actually have some background with snus.

I mean I know US swedish snus users aren't a huge block of tobacco users, but I'm sure that they know about us mail-ordering the swedish stuff, and figured that practice will go on and hurt their sales, if they don't offer something for that consumer.

just an idea... it would make sense to to make that change the day they go national and not before.

I found some today. Just as sweet as Original. A bit better flavor. Similar taste profile. I found it nothing like Swedish snus.No salt taste, plenty of sweet. Portions bags are LOOOONG and skinny. If you didn't like Original you won't like mellow.
