    Ipod Touch

Got a really cool gift from my employees today, a nifty new Ipod Touch!

Honestly I don't listen to music much from a PDA type device but I am a gadget whore to the extreme...

A little background... I have used Windows Mobile phones and PDA's for about 10 years or so. I started off with a Day-timer back in the day and the evolution to a pocket pc was smooth as butter.

In fact so smooth that if I looked in my desk drawers in my office here I would find no less that 8 PDA's either working or not.

Now, the point of my post...

Has anyone else used either an iphone or a touch yet? I only ask because the touch I got is quite possibly the coolest device ever!

Discounting the few features that windows mobile offers that Apple doesn't, it's not even close!

Damn, I really hoped to not be tempted to buy an iphone once my AT&T contract is up in February but I think I just may be doing that.

Anyone else have any thoughts about PDA's and such?

I don't do Apple products; unless you count the free Ipod Camel sent me a few years ago (I gave it to my girlfriend anyway...).

      Crackberry FTW!

Best phone I've ever owned! Not a big fan of the Storm, though... :P

I am a macbook user, and I got an Iphone this past October. It is truly an amazing device. In fact, I am posting from it now.

The only complaints I have about it would be that you can't send or receive picture messages, you have to send and receive them in email, that you cant text message with the wide keyboard (it doesn't rotate like it does in Safari), and that it does not support Adobe Flash, which limits a lot of web content you can view. Other than that, I have no other complaints...I love love love my Iphone to the point that my wife thinks its a social impediment, haha. It's great to have everything in one device and not have to carry around a phone and an Ipod. I would say definitely get one if you can.

Blackberrys have a somewhat similar problem; you can't send MMS messages unless you have a data plan. :x I think it's kind of stupid, but I guess it's a little pointless to have a smart phone without a data plan anyway...

That may be the next one I get; I really like the keyboard layout.

Her curve is absolutely incredible too.

I was joking with our IT guy that there was now way my wife could have a better phone than me, then the next day I got her the curve.

I feel rather sheepish about being such a windows mobile evangelist for the last few years though.

Both the blackberries and the iPhone are pretty kick ass compared to WinMo.

I had it on my netbook (eee pc 1000hd) and it was incredibly smooth for Vista sp2 :P

My laptop uses the 915 chipset so no fancy smansy graphics but the usability is primo with one exception..... No sleep mode.

If this had not been the problem I would have left it installed.

BTW< my laptop isn't the atom based, its the 900 mhz celeron (which is arguable better anyways)

It's all over torrents right now, I'm going to wait a while longer before I try it though. I've used Windows since 3.1 with the exception of Vista....apparently this one is Vista without all of the worthless crap included. If that's the case, sign me up. 8)

On a side note: anyone have a Zune? If so, I feel for you...

I use an Ipod touch. Just for music and the occasional internet use if there is wifi. Great little thing. I love all the free Apps you can get.

Why? Zunes worked fine yesterday. A little bug, really didn't make much of a difference to me.

Supposedly, Windows 7 is designed to work well on all the Netbooks out there I have the Acer version so I am interested, but will wait a bit longer. In my younger, dumber days, I played with every MS alpha and beta I could get my hands on. The alpha version of Win 98 destroyed my system. Now, I am just too lazy to stress it, and will let other brave te new worlds for me.

Microsoft is not making any new friends lately due to their rampant "red ring of death" issues with the Xbox, and now turning Zunes all over the world into temporary bricks overnight. They did fix the problem, but it does not instill much faith in their products as of late.

And don't get me started on Vista..... :P
