    Sending snus to australia

    Hi

I ordered snus online and had it sent to Sydney Australia. I recieved a letter from customs saying I had to pay tobacco tax on the snus I only ordered 1 and a half rolls. I have been looking and I have heard you can send 3 rolls before you are taxed by customs.

Should I try a certain webiste to order snus?
Where can I find out about the custom regulations?
Is there somewhere in Sydney where I can buy snus?

    Any help would be great

    Thanks

Northerner advises that you should only order a maximum of 5 tins at a time to Canada in order to avoid heavy duties. They can ship 5 in a simple envelope, and if they are stopped at customs (as mine are roughly 1/3 of the time) the duty is small, about $15 or so. Maybe the same principle might apply in Australia?

micklbaker, first, welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately for you, from what I have learned from others in Australia, you are probably just out of luck. They seem to be aggressive in collecting tax, if maybe a bit inconsistent at times, but from what I have heard, there really isn't an amount of snus that won't get dinged. And I don't think it makes a hill of beans difference which vendor you buy from.

I have never heard of snus being available locally there.
