    For you fellow snusers

OK, i havent posted in awhile only because when i started on here and became a poster the guys I was helping became aficainados themselves so no point in giving my 2 cents anymore.

But i would like to say that I picked up Pipe smoking to go along with my snus which I love sooo much and they compliment each other soo well.

If no one on here has tried it( those of you who were smokers such as myself ) then you should.

Not only does my wife not mind me smoking in the house she actually thinks it smells good.

Now i am all for harm reduction but if you must smoke, such as myself, pipe smoking is probably the least harmful smoking habit ( That includes tobacco ) and is quite room friendly.

Any other snusers enjoy a good pipe from time to time?

I love pipes! I actually found out about snus from a pipe forum online. Now I snus more than smoke a pipe.

The CO aspect of smoking pipes worries me. Do you get carbon monoxide from smoking a pipe?

here is a good place to look if you are worried about the dangers of pipe smoking. it's not the co that is the problem with smoke. it's all the sh*t the put in the cigs. very little tobacco left in them. it is mostly reconstituted tobacco sheet. http://gatlinburlier.com/index.cgi?t...ge=quitcig.htm

I'm a long time pipe smoker and still love it.
But with work and smoking restrictions it's just easier to just reach for snus.
            Not that that's a bad thing. 8)

I will puff on a Black and Mild cigar every once in a while (I know it's low quality... blah blah blah) but it's fun sometimes, even though it only delivers small amounts of nicotine (I don't inhale).

If I got a pipe I just know I'd inhale and suck the mother dry rather than gently puff on it as you are supposed to.

Good to hear from you again Grim.

Interesting, though I'd like to see sources for those claims.

Actually ignore what I just said, I'm going to get a pipe.

Truthfully, smoking anything is really bad, because even if the tobacco doesn't already have crap added to it, it releases a lot of chemicals in the tobacco that are naturally there. And CO is always a threat. That's why people use it to commit suicide with their cars in their garage...it's straight up poison gas.

But yeah, cigarettes (except for the few that don't add things to them) has tons more bad things added to them than other smokable tobacco.

I have 4 pipes and the wife has two. I enjoy 2-4 bowlfuls a week. I like the smell, and since both of my grandfathers smoked pipes, it's a sentimental thing for me.
Now that I'm trying REALLY HARD to give up cigs a pipeful helps cure the mental cravings of having something for my hands to do. I am a little worried about the health effects, as I had a older cousin die of throat cancer after having a pipe in his mouth almost constantly for 50+ years. Although I'm sure it's a lot less harmful than cigarettes. Besides moderation is the key to almost anything.

I'm going to buy a pipe tomorrow. I'm willing to try everything to kick cigarettes. It's the taste of the smoke more than anything else that I like. Except there is no other nicotine rush like the morning cigarette. It's not worth the lung problems though.

holnrew, nasal snuff will give you a real quick nic rush. Get some of that when you get your pipe.

You know, I'm 43 and maybe I am finally old enough to smoke a pipe. Well, I DO smoke a pipe, just not tobacco.

Seriously, my Dad occasionally smoked pipes and I always loves the smell. And the one thing that makes me occasionally reach for a cigarette is missing the physicality of smoking. I should try a pipe soon.

Thank you for giving me a nudge!!

I've enjoyed pipes in the past. It's definitely a unique tobacco experience. I personally enjoyed the stronger Dunhill brands like 965 and Night Cap, and a Frog Morton or two. Those nicotine rushes when you really got the baccy cookin' were excellent, and the scent is so exotic and rich. I may pick it up again when the weather gets warmer, now that I have my own front porch.
