Heh. You do not know me well enough. Believe me, I am not one of your bashful Imperial buddies...

Yes, I WOULD say all of this to anyone's face, and I take every opportunity to do so. This doesn't make me very popular at parties, but what the hell...

Your silly bravado does not intimidate me. Could you take me "by storm?" Who knows - the internet is no place for a testosterone-fueled penis-measuring contest, my silly little friend. Maybe you could. But it is rarely a good idea to assault a lawyer...

Once again, an ad hominem fallacy.

When unable to counter superior arguments, Imperials tend to fall back on banal personal attacks.

For all I care, you can think of me as a gestating fetus, if that makes you feel any better. It won't do anything to strengthen your arguments, but think what you will...

Originally, we were debating gun control - now it seems to be politics in general. Either way, these are substantive issues. Personally attacking me does nothing to strengthen your position - it simply makes you seem petty.

You really should try to be calmer in future debates. Seriously... Insults? Implied threats of interpersonal violence? Are you trying to be a respectable debater or a primitive ape here?

What more can one ask? I would ask for basic human rights. For starters:
                1) Not starving to death.
                2) Not freezing to death.

Any nation that allows its citizens to die on the streets is a barbarian backwater.

If Cuba can provide its people with adequate food and housing, why can't the richest nation in the world do the same? What the hell is wrong with you savages?

"Land of the free," my hairy ass.

But you can still prance around with firearms. Because if a deadly weapon doesn't make you more manly, what will? You people are seriously sick.

The government of Cuba does not provide adequate food, housing, medical care, etc. to its citizens. However, it DOES provide monthly provisions for cigarettes, free substandard medical services, and all the valium you want [to prevent any rebellion of its citizens].

Sure they get 4 lbs of rice a month. If you call that adequate food.

Been there a dozen times, seen it for myself.

You might do great in Cuba. I think the valium would do you some good.
But you would be in prison in a heartbeat for ANY kind of bashing of the government. There are neighborhood spies everywhere. So you think Cuba is a better place? Only if you are a tourist and want to get laid for the price of a piece of chicken, a dam skinny piece at that.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

You fail to support your outrageous allegations with anything resembling evidence.

Also, I am not sure how you have managed to visit this great nation "a dozen times," given that the irrational Imperial embargo of Cuba makes every such visit punishable by a fine of $10,000 and a lengthy jail sentence... I am not accusing you of lying, I would simply like an explanation of how you managed to get an exemption.

Moreover, given that I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the glorious Cuban government, I would imagine that potential jail time will not be an issue for me. Freedom of speech is overrated, anyway. For one, you can't eat it when you're starving to death...

Finally, you failed to mention that Cuba has the best medical service in all of Latin America. Interesting fact, don't you think? And did I mention the highest literacy rate in the WORLD?

Oh for **** sake. He's an internet troll who enjoys bashing on the US government and damn near anything else that isn't in his communist ideals. He hasn't contributed much to the board, aside from giving us something to rant about. He isn't going to change his mind, and he isn't going to change ours. If anything, he's strengthening them. I think it's well established he's one of the least liked members of the board and that most of us think he's an idiot. Now let this thread die or be locked. Seriously.

Thank you, Dr. Freud, but your analysis is a bit off. Once again, I must point out that belittling and insulting me does nothing to advance your arguments.

There are not millions of people starving on the streets of the U.S. You are making that up, like many of your other assertions.

The easiest way to address a social problem of this scope is, of course, to dismiss it altogether. Unfortunately, this also happens to be counterproductive and intellectually lazy.

I encourage you to become educated about homelessness in the Empire. You can start here:

                            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homeles...s#cite_note-10

                            Some highlights:

"As many as 3.5 million people experience homelessness in a given year (1% of the entire U.S. population or 10% of its poor)."

"Lifetime homeless prevalence measured in 1990 by Bruce Link and colleagues found 7.4% or 13.5 million people reported experiencing literal homelessness.[9] These estimates were tabulated from telephone interviews and thus most likely excluded all currently homeless individuals."

Homelessness is not the same thing as starvation, in fact it does not even mean living in the streets. You said "starving on the streets like millions of your compatriots."

It's a nice hyperbole, but it's absolutely false. You are entitled to your own views, but don't try to persuade us with intellectually dishonest arguments.

I am not trying to start or continue this argument but....

How many people that are homeless permanently or for a short while are high school graduates. Just curious.

On another note. My buddy worked at a gas station in the center of a CSA (consolidated statistical area) with a pop of around 150,000. He was telling me of a few homeless men who would frequently come around and he got to be friends with them. The homeless men would pump gas for people even though it was a self-service station and would receive tips. Not sure to the truth of this but my buddy tells me this: "these homeless guys had a few thousand dollars on them at all times." They could have easily bought an apartment and found a minimum wage job.

My best guess is that around 30% of homeless people choose to be homeless. In no way am I an expert, just thought I would chime in.
