Just making sure I got it right. They have more troops, but a smaller budget. Aye?

And Condor, I think you'll laugh at this.

dam right. China has 3 billion citizens and 2,250,000 military. And no budget to speak of. But still a formidable force.

The really scarry part is that they can eaily quadruple the amount of servicemen at the drop of a hat. How many millions of men over there between 18 and lets say 40 years old to draft out of billions in population? 100 milllion? Sure but they couldn't properly outfit and arm them all. I don't think. But they could get that many clubs. lol
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

We have all the cool high tech toys. Troops are much cheaper than tech, especially when you aren't that concerned with the troops well being.

The successful troll thing is pretty funny. I laughed. I guess I have nothing more to contribute, or most of my posts from here on out are going to be filled with the phrase "you ****ing idiots..."

Shaul, maybe one of the reasons Chinese aren't doing so bad financially relative to US. They have twice as many troops (not nicely trained?)and their budget is less than 1/10. but they have zero aircraft carriers vs. 12 for US. Tanks are almost the same at about 7500 vs, 7800 for US.

Precisely, and that is a major miscalculation in his analysis. What he wrote might be true in a small uprising but not when it comes to a revolution or a major uprising. I am not saying that we are there now – but just in case we get to that point. I don't believe when it comes to it (Government vs. majority of the population), members of the armed forces would go on a rampage killing their countrymen, friends and relatives in order to protect a corrupt government and congress. A big majority of them will be with the people fighting the government. Let's not forget who almost always won in all major revolutions (good or bad ones)of the last couple of centuries.

And our military knows it.
Sadly, the gap is closeing quickly tho.

Sure our government has us out powered by the means of more powerfull and smarter weapons, but they have to respect our citizens somewhat because we actually have more small arms than the government and there are alot more citizens than military. And some of the citizens are have some of the big guns too. You better believe it. If our government wants to take total control they will have to fight in OUR neighborhoods that we know inside and out. The military will be at a great disadvantage in this reguard. Now don't say that they will simply bomb the crap out of the citizens because that wouldn't happen at all. The government doesn't want to rebuild the infrastructure of their own country.
I have a couple issues with you argument:

              1) If the government decides to take you out, small arms aren't going to cut it. You may very well be able to hit a stationary target at 300 yards, but when going up against military snipers and bombers, I would wager good money on the snipers and bombers...

              2) Your words are just words. None of you is going to go up against the government. Do you recall the past 8 years? Do you remember the tyranny of the genocidal fascist Emperor Bush II? If his reign didn't motivate you to take up arms against the government, nothing else will. If you're willing to be ruled by a complete idiot doing his damnedest to channel Hitler's ghost, your entire argument falls apart.

Very cute. An ad hominem attack. How mature of you.

I find it mystifying that you claim that you have "logic and common sense" on your side. Did I miss something? I have provided statistics. I have provided solid policy arguments. YOU have not been able to muster anything beyond "Ah-yuk, guns is good!" (I am paraphrasing slightly).

Your complete disregard for rationality sickens and disgusts me.

"Clubs?" So the People's Republic of China is now a nation of backward barbarians?

                      How interesting.

I am going to have to disagree with you on this point. China has the fastest-growing economy in the world. China is one of only three nations to have achieved space travel. China has nuclear weapons. Pay special attention to that last one: when you can nuke any enemy into oblivion and back, chances are that you won't really have to resort to "clubs."

Looks like those silly Communist barbarians have done pretty well for themselves, don't you think?

Uh, I think PP was just making a joke.

Dude. we don't agree with you, and you don't agree with us.

I'm sure youre a nice guy and all of that, and Im sorry if you felt I was "attacking" you. I assure you, I was not. Now, this shit can go on til the end of time, or we can just agree to disagree. I'm not budging one little teeny tiny bit, im sure they're not budging, and Im 1000% sure you wont. I am just going to go on record as saying I want no part of this, it just irritates me. I always take the bait on this, and I should know better by now. Best of luck to you.

Ok, just a little note and then I am also done like condor & Saul. I think communism is a broken system that never worked, although it may sound real nice in theory and on paper. Can you show me a single case in which communism worked? Look at Russia and the standard of living it’s people had and in the end it just collapsed. China? Well, China is so desperately and openly cherishing the forbidden system of capitalism. Don’t we all feel bad for all those undernourished and hungry people of North Korea? I know, it would be so easy to blame other countries for what is going on in North Korea.

I think the masses under communist regimes have and still are realizing that the concept of “maximum of things for maximum of people” was an unrealistic dream which was created in order to keep a few in absolute power over the livelihood of billions of subjects.

wait a sec. are you really saying that one of the reasons you have guns is because one day "tyrannical government" may turn against the people? you mean that seriously?

i'm not provoking or being sarcastic, i'm asking for real.
