I don't do the obedience, Jackie does. I wanted to do obedience and Shutzhund with my pup but she was only 5 months old, so I was only starting the basics of obedience with her. And then my ex left me for another guy and took the pup and the apartment. I could write a suburban country song off of the whole experience. XD Shit happens, and now I'm with my darlin', Jackie. Soooo much happier.

Shaul, I am glad everything worked out for you and that you are pretty happy with your lady but I should say to hell with your old gf (well, she didn't deserve you anyway) maybe you should've kept your dog. She is a beautiful dog.

Condor, I have a feeling Henry wouldn't feel too comfortable in the company of Iphy, the neech or Sio. Sio looks beautiful & mysterious, doesn't look like a typical dog. I think he is my favorite of the three.

The funny thing about my dogs is that they are trained in different languages. Iphy (the lab) is trained in Latin. (my wife is a latin teacher). Nietzsche is trained in German. The dog i work with now is english trained. Now if Iphy grabs something and i want her to let it go, like the other day, Im running behind her yelling "leave it!...uh...Aus!!...uh...Ex!" and then she finally drops it. Or if someone knocks on the door and they go nuts, and i want them to go lay down i have to go in order.... "Accumbo! ....Nein!..Platz!" We always have a laugh about that. I really think I should just teach them Esperonto

Hey, since you know him, did you ever see my brother's pit bull....."Auschwitz"? So named because when the dog was rescued from the pound, it was nothing but skin and bones. Very offensive, I know. Don't shoot me, Im just the messenger. I just called it "Ausch"


And Shaul...I was looking at Kita's picture...be sure to have her hips checked, she seems to be favoring a side, and early in life, thats something to watch for thats indicative of dysplasia. Not saying she has it, but just make sure you get it checked. Beautiful dog.

Edit.... we have a dog named "Tika" at work. That confused me :lol:

I wish I had Kita still to check up on her. My ex kept her after the breakup with threats of filing false abuse charges. Lord knows how that'd go over in the South... or anywhere in the US for that matter. It's ok though, since I honestly didn't have a place to keep her when I went back to The Citadel as a cadet. I know if my ex didn't take care of her then her parents would. That's better than me not having a stable place and only seeing her a couple times a week. Or at least I'd hope that's the case... Not really sure about my psychobitch of an ex's mental state or anything after that whole ordeal... <.< >.>

I feel worse that I had to leave Kita behind than I did my ex, truthfully. Got cheated on twice, and decided to say **** it after that. When I found out I didn't get pissed, didn't cry, didn't have a major dramatic emotion fit of any sort. I said to myself, "Well, that makes sense", sat on the couch with my pup, put in a movie, and lit up a cigar. XD And then I got together with Jackie a couple months later after realizing just how awesome she is.

I do plan on having shepherds in the future. Jackie and I have plans to eventually move to the Dakotas, and have dogs and horses. A couple of horses, our own kennel of shepherds, and possibly a husky. And I'm going to have at least three rifles for hunting and a handgun for carry.

Iphy (the lab) is trained in Latin.

I would've gone the Aramaic route, it's even more exotic, but seriously Latin?...lol.. You should put a dog tag on him saying "Iphy communicates in Latin and not English" it might be of some help if he ever gets lost.

This is my girl Stella early this past fall after having surgery. She had a herniated disk and had been paralyzed from mid back.

How'd the surgery turn out for Stela? She almost looks like she has some Corgi in her.... dogs are so kick ass.

As for the Latin training, it kinda started as a joke, cause I have been around dogs trained in just about everyhing...Czech, Dutch, German.... I trained my personal dog in German and am working on my 2nd Bachelors in German... my wife is finishing her Masters in Latin...she is all into classical culture...hence the name Iphigenia. Anyway, yeah..she said if you can train your dog in german, i can train mine in latin...she had to train me too, i didnt know what the hell she was saying. Still have plans to train a dog in hungarian... the next one gets a Hungarian name, and will be trained in Magyar commands.

I suppose, since you & your wife speak a dozen (or 1/2) languages. Do you speak fluent Hungarian? I've heard it is a tough language to learn from scratch and also the pronunciation of the language not a breeze.

Stella came out good. She was running around in a month. I really think she was suffering pain for a while before we noticed the limp and then the paralysis. She's got a great smile most of the time that was missing last fall.

The fur took longer to come back than her health did.

She went from walking on all fours to pulling around with her front legs in a day. My wife insisted on saving her, and I'm so glad we did.

I got her at a pound at 6:30am about 5 years ago in "**** your sister" Ohio right before they euthanized all the unwanted dogs for the month at 9am. No telling where she came from.

They had a nice blue tick coon hound I wanted really bad. Shame I couldn't have taken them all. Interesting how where I live dogs are sheltered, and in a different part of the state they're "processed."

As far as what she is. I call her my "miniature" shepherd. She's only 45 pounds. I remember the first vet I took her to told me 90 pounds full grown. lol. Not really a corgi or a shepherd. I always say she's part fox.

Nuggett is a "hopped the fence" mix of chow and black lab. He's got the purple tongue of a chow and the laziness of a lab.

I never got into the obedience thing as much as you guys, but did take Stella with me to a kennel club every week for six months and we learned the basics.
