    Prescription Oakley Glasses

I have a pair of Oakley "Flak Jacket" glasses

I bought them back in July of '08 when I was attempting to wear contacts (yet again). Anyways, I want to have prescription lenses put into these glasses and understand that it can be done.

I am just curious if anybody here has ever had a script put into oakleys, how long it took to get the glasses back from the oakley factory, and what the cost was like?

I have Oakley frames but I bought the frames and lens at the same time. I think it was at a lenscrafters. Oakly I think is making a big push in to the scrip. eyeware world. Take them to a lenscrafters and see if they can fit them for you.

Yeah, I actually called Oakley customer service just before posting this. They told me to take them to the local lens crafters as well.

I am just trying to get an idea of what it might cost before-hand.

                That isn't bad at all.

I assume that the higher price is for them to be polarized? or is that in addition to what you listed?

That is cheapest to most expensive. 115 is polarized, the lower end of the price spectrum is non polarized

Awesome. and I assume that is your pricing, so if I were to get it done in a normal store I'm probably lookin' at about $200

Just the thought of contacts makes me eyes water.

I tried contacts, they just didn't work. I have like 120/120 in both eyes with astigmatism in both eyes.

This was during high school, and I enjoyed sleeping in high school.. a lot. Sleeping with soft contacts in hurts... bad... they dry out and your eyes get all red... gah.

Anyway, I believe the reason why the thought of contacts makes my eyes water is because one time I was trying to remove one of them. I kept thinking I had it pinched and kept pulling but it wouldn't come off. I figured when I was pulling it it was sort of vacuuming to my eyeball.

I kept doing this, getting frantic and pissed off that I couldn't pull the contact off because I felt like I had it pinched between my fingers. Turns out I was pinching the skin on my eyeball and pulling on it.

I have to stop writing now because my eyes are watering so bad it is making my nose run!

Xobe, a buddy of mine was looking at getting some prescription oakleys earlier today.

From what I understand, you just need to find a local eyedoctor and have them order the lenses. Once they come in, the local shop can install them for you.

                          From the oakley website:
Find an Authorized Oakley Prescription Dealer: 1.800.501.5899

Call that # and see if anyone is close to you.

Or just do what I did, go get LASIK

Man, I would LOVE to do lasik but I can not afford it and still eat. I'd do a financing plan had I not gotten a swift kick in the nuts by the credit world back in about '05-06 when I was laid off.

                            Maybe some day.

^i've also been thinking about lasik...
I been wearing contacts for about 10 years now, so im pretty good at poking myself in the eye and what not haha

they can be a pain in the butt, but I think glasses are more high maintenance than contacts, just my opinion.
