I wondered how many of us like that healthy Japanese dish. From my experience it's a kind of 'love it or hate it' food. I love the stuff, and if I'm lazy- I live next to a large supermarket, so I can pick a lunch-type sushi.
Who likes sushi?

love it or fall victim to the stereotype "oh my god! that's RAW FISH?!?"
We love it so much we've been making it at home now. There's a nice Korean grocery store that sells sushi fish for very cheap. Like 8 dollars for a pound of sushi grade salmon. If you've been out to eat sushi you know that 8 dollars sometimes only gets you a roll which has a pencil sized piece of salmon.
This is why I prefer the home method.

I believe there are places where one can order sushi fish online. Shipping is fast and the prices are good. I don't have a link handy right now.
If that doesn't work for you let me know and I can send you some and you can just hit me back via paypal or something. No problem here, I visit the shop bi-weekly.

I love me some sushi!
On a side note.
A few years ago when I went to visit a friend in Cali we went down to S.D. for a night and went to a sushi joint. By the time we got there I was already drunk. Never even occurred to me that the menu had no prices listed. When the bill came it was around 400 dollars for 4 people. Thankfully my buddy from Cali footed the bill (must be nice to have rich parents!). That is the only sushi restaurant I have been to. Not many around my neck of BFE.
Anyone have a good (inexpensive) recipe for sushi?

Thanks for the offer, mate. I'm pretty sure the local grocery store has some good quality salmon and tuna, but a couple dollars more expensive. Still, now that I think about it, that $10-11 for a pound of quality salmon makes how many rolls compared to the single one you'd get? One hell of a steal. Just need to figure out how to put it all together well. I wish the one sushi restaurant a couple miles away was still open. The chef was always happy to explain how he made things and show us when my sis and I asked. He seemed to love that people took a genuine interest in trying to learn the art.

I love sushi and sashimi, since they are harmless (not to mention tasty). The parasites that infest shallow-water fish cannot survive the human stomach. The heavy metals that taint the deep-water fish cannot be broken down by cooking, anyway.

... did the trolling, or attempt at it, just spread to another thread?
And capt, I love raw meat too. Grandma used to make this one sandwich that absolutely rocked. She got prime cut beef and sliced it paper thin. She'd lay the strips in some pita bread, add scallions, cayenne peppers, black pepper, some salt, and tomatoes. Most delicious thing ever.
