    Snus makes Amtrak more enjoyable

I regularly travel on Amtrak between Kingston, RI and Washington, DC. As a smoker, I would dash to the door at the stops where there was enough time to get a smoke in (usually New Haven, New York Penn, Philly and Baltimore). With snus I don’t have to worry about that anymore.

The approximately 7 hour trip now passes fairly quickly with snus (usually General Onyx), laptop with aircard, and a strong drink.

Any other Amtrak snussers out there?

    First, welcome to Snuson SnusNinja.

I have taken Amtrack twice this past year. Back and forth from San Jose to Sacramento, and again from here in Raleigh to Philadelphia and back. And yes, snus makes it far easier.

Same as flying, snus just makes all travel more enjoyable. Even day to day. I ride a motorcycle and, in the past, was always having to stop, get my gloves off, to have a cigarette. Now I get my nicotine as I ride and life has never been better!!

Motorcycles and snus are made for each other. Wonder if we could get Swedish Match to pimp out a couple motorcycles.

      Welcome SnusNinja,

I remember the days when trains had smoker cars. The smoke was so thick you could cut it with a knife. It was so bad a lot of smokers wouldn't even go there.

That is a kick ass idea. Hey Swedish Match, hook me up with a snus decorated Harley and I will ride it around the country to Harley rallies handing out samples :P

My wife would love the hell out of that

Hell, I'll even design a hard core looking biker gang jacket that features snus!

Now the only smoking room left on Amtrak is on the AutoTrain.

I remember using a smoking car on a train in France once. The ventilation system kept the air clean even when it was full of smokers.

The long distance Amtrak trains are worse than the Regional that I take frequently. Chicago to DC only had 2 smoke stops if I recall. Talk about uncomfortable.

Anyway, I transitioned to a non-smoker with snus and travel should be significantly less stressful.

My recent trip to KC on a greyhound bus was much more enjoyable with snus.

Are there many smoke stops on Greyhound?

From Denver to KC we stopped about every 2-3 hours.

I took the Amtrak from Seattle to Los Angeles in summer '05 and while we had a few smoker stops, the experience was still really difficult.

On the Amtrak Acela from Boston to Washington it's almost 7 hours, but no stop is long enough to smoke a cigarette. Really frustrating when you look out the window at a station stop and see someone smoking but you can’t have one. Traveling at 155 MPH is sort of fun though.
