    Everyone loves the frog...

I have deleted the original intention of this thread to hopefully open up a more clarified debate. As sage has pointed out to me in the past hour the people of this forum are not capable of keeping a civil manner in a political thread. So in order to calm everyone down I bring you this...

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/lRvhRhWWE44&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/lRvhRhWWE44&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Libertarians, especially those of the Randian cult, are possibly the most strident ideologues that exist in our current political climate.

        Please, please, please.

Every political thread here has gotten ugly. Let's not do this again.

But I will make it easy. ALL politicians suck, just the nature of the game. My evil one is less evil than your evil one. And I am sure you would disagree.

Whatever. But let's not go here.

Sage. We went there with religion. Why not go there with politics. If we can't have hot debate here then where else are we going to. Other sites where we only have the same voice or we are a lone minority and get drowned out by countless others? If I read the meaning behind this section of snuson it is for this kind of purpose. A place where a collective of similar minded people on tobacco choice also can talk about everything else that shapes are world. Politics just happens to be another thing that shapes are life and are world. I will re-edit the main post with some guidelines. If it gets to ugly I will encourage mwood or any other moderator to delete it. I just think its time to try it again.

But we just went there last month, one of the ugliest threads EVER on Snuson, and it did damage.

Religion doesn't even come close. Folks at least have the sense to be polite about it. But politics seems to make them lose it.

If you really want to see how ugly it can get, read this. But I warn you, it will NOT be fun. The accusations of racism, the posts about how Nazis weren't that bad, you will understand.

Technically there are two parties but it is actually one party. It is a brilliant model because it keeps the elite in power no matter if it is a Democrat or a Republican.
The only way to defeat this model is with honest voting policies and have more independents win state elections and gradually move up.
I followed and was directly involved with the Ron Paul campaign and it was quite the uphill battle against the status quo.
The best thing that came out of that was that it pushed Guiliani out of the race and really shook up the republican base.

Since you wrote the above statement, I think it is fair to ask you:

And, what do you think about "the people of this forum not being capable of keeping a civil manner in a political thread"?

I love the frog too and the song. It reminds me when I was growing up, when there was nothing to worry about. Maybe we could get rid of the Family Guy and South Park and have the Muppets be brought back? Instead of "shock humour" we could again have programs that were witty and uplifting? Can anyone else say they hate Adult Swim? Twisted, freakish, and just overall F*cked up!
