    [EDIT] Let's Talk About Balisongs!

For those of you that hadn't been following the "Advice on a folding knife purchase" thread, I recently ordered a Benchmade Mini Griptilian.

I got the knife last week, and it is the best knife I've ever had. I was looking for a good EDC, and it's definitely that. In fact, it's almost too good.

And now, I'm starting to wish I had gotten the full-size. I wear it in my back pocket, and can barely notice it. I'm guessing most prefer clipping their knives to their front pocket, and if I were to do this, I'd definitely want the Mini.

So, less than a week later, I'm thinking I'm going to order the normal model. I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in buying the Mini off me. It is in next to new condition, with the exception of the clip, which is showing wear (about a centimeter of exposed metal along the edge) that I'm sure occurs normally fairly quickly. There is also a tiny hairline scratch near the very bottom of the blade that inevitably occurs from opening and closing the knife. It's so discrete that I can't get it to show up in a picture; I just want to be completely honest about its otherwise mint condition.

I will ship the knife, along with its original packaging, to anyone interested for $70.

    PM me if interested...

I am not sure if you have actually held a full-size griptilian in your hand.

If you haven't, maybe before selling yours, try one of these dealerships in your area. You never know, you may or may not like the size but it is always safe to feel one before buying it.

I've actually just decided to keep the thing now.

I just need to get me the right torx bit so I can move the clip to the left hand side; it's crazy how much better it grips in my right hand. I felt the grip was a little too small until I realized the clip was to blame.

I'm think I was just reacting to Benchmade AutoStryker envy - my work friend brought his in the other day and it's the 3.5" version of a very similar blade. The reality is, for my needs, the half inch shorter blade isn't too much of a detriment. Axis Lock is so much more secure than the AutoStryker's locking system, and I love how the blade closes almost faster than it opens (especially after hours of practicing how to manipulate the Axis Lock.)

I can't imagine why law enforcement/military/people with only one hand can rationalize their situation to mandate an automatic knife. My friend's Stryker needs some oil, my blade opens faster than his right now...

If only the other 49 states could follow Oregon's wonderful example in the area of knife ordinances.

      Pressing onwards...

Wow balisong that brings back memories! I used to carry one in middle school although it was more for the flash than the practicality! I was quick on the on the draw with that bastard and wish I still had it! I would consider it more of a collector's item than an EDC. Man they are beautiful knives! Benchmade is the shit! I carry an old redbone Case myself out of sentimental reasons...it's my dad's knife of choice. I do believe that Benchmade is tops today...their one hand opening system is outstanding! Although Kershaw's Ken Onion series is decent for the price. Wow that was a ramble! Talk about ADD!

I've been through four of those Kershaws' in the past two years. They just break way too easily.

          Is that Bali-song legal?

Love to hear about it. Will you elaborate?

The plastic stops bust very often, and then the tips of the blades have a habit of snapping off as well. I just don't think they're made with the best metal.

I keep my knife on my beltloop, and after they bust I've sat down many times to have a blade poking my stomach.. Not pleasant.
