Other Obsessions...

So I have been semi absent for a while. I have decided to take up the art of shaving with a straight razor, and have been endlessly searching for them on the ebay, and browsing other forums for tips and advice concerning my new obsession. I know that there are other knife addicts on the forum, so I thought I would share. Any other straight razor users out there?

That's my new obsession, what are your other obsessions, besides snus?

I use a straight razor. I started last year when I decided I wanted to be a surgeon. Boy did I cut myself up at the begining. But after countless hours in the anatomy lab, I can shave with the best of them!

Do you have a straight edge razor? If not I could send one to you in exchange for some precious snus.

I've used a straight razor for over 20 years. A great shave, economical, and people don't usually want to borrow your razor :^P

I haven't shaved with a straight yet, as I don't have a shave ready straight. I have some that I picked up for restoration projects, but they are a long way off. I was able to pick up a NOS 11/16 Wapienica, but it is not honed, so I can't use it yet. I've been trying to save money to either buy a hone, shave ready razor, or send it off to someone that can hone it for me. I have been chomping at the bit to get a straight that is shave ready.

Look around in antique shops. You can find a lot of good shaving supplies there. If you stay away from fancy handles, and various pretties, you can pick up great razors at great prices.
