Hi everyone! New Snuser from Michigan

Well, after a few posts, I thought I should properly introduce myself.
I live in South East Michigan, in an area that baned smoking in most public places, other than bars and restaurants.
I have smoked for about 30 years. Currently making my own, not just because its about $4 per pack cheaper, but the tobacco blend I have created is just so much better.
I also dip, which I started about 20 years ago.
So I pretty much dip all day at work, smoking at breaks and at home.
Well that all changed last week when my first 10 tins of snus arrived :lol:

My 1st order from northerner.com consisted of 1 tin each of the following:

Offroad Wintergreen, portion
Wise Original (6mg), White Mini
Level, portion
Kronan, Portion
Ettan, Portion
Ettan White, Portion
General White Onyx, Portion
Nick & Johnny, Portion
Granit, Portion
Knox, Mini Portion

Paid the extra $20 for UPS because I was just so darn excited!
I have tried them all except the Level, which I haven't read anything good about, but will probably try some tonight.

My favorites so far are:
General White Onyx (Love this stuff)
Wise Original (6mg), White Mini (Nice amount of nic for such a small package)
Ettan White
Knox, Mini Portion

Not sure why I like the white better. Even between the Ettan and Ettan white, I prefer the white.

The Offroad Wintergreen was just a little much for my tastes.
The N&J, makes my mouth watter, which makes me want to spit, which I don't care for, even though I have been spitting tobacco for 20 years.

So, based on that list of likes does anyone have any suggestions for my next order?
I will order more of the Onyx (wish it wasn't so expensive) but it just suites me.
I also want to get a tin or two of some loose.

Diplomat or the venerable general? You may also want to give landstroms/gellivare a go but it only comes in loose.

I will order more of the Onyx (wish it wasn't so expensive) but it just suites me.

Good luck to you on quitting smoking! Many people here don't go back after trying Snus, while I am working on kicking the habit (hard to do when beer enters the equation :? )

I'd give a vote for trying the Diplomat White Portions, very tasty and a cool aluminum can to boot!

Haven t touched my can of skoal since my 1st order of snus arrived.
I am not currently "trying" to quit smoking, just no point in smoking when I am enjoying a nice strong portion
I am on vacation next week, in the most relaxing place on earth, and I think I will try to enjoy myself without smoking.
My weakest smoking time for me is early in the morning too Alex.
I just never really enjoyed my morning coffee with a pinch of skoal, or nicotine gum. But I have found that some snus REALLY goes well with a cup of coffee.


To be sure I don't run out of snus I like while on vacation, I ordered some more Sunday night.

Wise Citrus & Menthol (6mg), White Mini

Smoking is definitely hard to kick, but the more and more I smoke, the more and more I feel like I am destroying my body! After not smoking for just a day, you really realize just how disgusting smoking really is! I went back and reread your OP, you are rolling your own though, which helps a lot I am sure.

A nice portion of a more plain tabacco flavored Snus (Diplomat, Knox, Onyx) goes great with coffee!

My morning routine is tobacco-y los snus + coffee + catching up with my email. It's the best way to start the day I'm working from home at the moment so can afford to take the extra time

As much as I'm a los fan, I find montecristo and lucky strike (only available as portions...) go best with coffee 8)

I kinda thought the lucky strike might go well with coffee. I will have to try some.

At about 2am this morning my current order was "REGISTERED WITH CLEARING AGENCY" in PHILADELPHIA, PA
At 11:57 A.M. it was "IMPORT SCAN" in PHILADELPHIA, PA.
Is this bad news for me?

My order always have this sort of message although I'm not sure about the 'clearing agency' thing

The clearing agency is just whomever the courier has retained to deal with the paperwork and process of clearing the item for import - that means settling any import taxes, etc. When you get the package delivered you usually have to pay some amount of tax and a service fee to claim your parcel back. The tax pays for the tax and the service fee pays for the clearing agency who cut the red tape for you.

Package arrived safely, no extra fees.

Diplomat portion's and coffee go well. (enjoying that now)
Wanted to try some skruf stark portions, but they were not in stock when I ordered, and I wanted to be sure my order got here before I go out of town at the end of the week.
I did however get some skruf stark loose, which I will give a try in a little while.

The phone rang while typing this, and by the time I got off I was ready to try my first loose. Thought I would share for new and old.

as I was forming it in the palm of my hand I thought I should record this for you guys to laugh at, but I didn't.

This tin must be rather fresh as it formed quite nicely.
then, fell apart, reformed nice, and .. fell apart again.
after about 2 or 3 minutes of playing around, I was satisfied and tucked it under my lip.
No burn whatsoever. Nice. Then my whole lip goes numb, but still nice.

Coffee? Naw, it will fall apart and make a mess!
Nope, coffee and loose I can do.
Hmmm... I must have been a loose snuser in another life.

Well sorry, no funny story to share. Glad this forum is here to share though. I really appreciate you guys. Has made my introduction to snus much more enjoyable.
