NIce! I had a buddy that got me into black metal for awhile. What's that Norseman's name that killed his buddy and ate some brain pieces? was that the dude from Mayhem or Burzum? I really dug Emperor but Ihsahn's solo stuff is weak IMO.

Actually, the singer for Mayhem committed suicide with a shotgun....Euronymous (the guitarist) was living with him at the time; he came home, found the body, took pictures and supposedly cooked and ate the brains.

Varg Vikernes played bass or guitar on their album, and Burzum's albums were being released by Euronymous' record label. There was a money issue regarding these releases and some kind of power struggle within the black metal scene which prompted Varg to go to Euronymous' home and stab him to death. Oh yeah, he burned down a bunch of churches, too.

Talk about your bizzaro world soap operas!

Burzum is/was one of my favorite black metal bands; I don't agree with a lot of Varg's views, but musically he's very talented.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Incidentally, the picture Euronymous took became Mayhem's next album cover. It's easily found on the Internets, for anyone who is curious.

Listening to Whitesnake at the moment, myself.

Edit: Also, check out this interview with Necrobutcher from Wacken 2004, for the doc "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey".

^^^Hahahaha, he looked pretty wasted...

So is Hellhammer still with Mayhem or what? I was always more of a Burzum fan (since people always seem to take sides) so I haven't really kept up with them. Mayhem was what started it all; from the "scene" point of view, anyway....otherwise, I would say Bathory...
