If anyone wants a copy of my last ASTRUM CD, it's a quality press/package, good recording quality, paypal me $8, and I'll mail you one. It's old school style blackened thrash with a punk attitude. You can hear some of it at myspace.com/themightyastrum and on youtube under ASTRUM502.

I JUST recorded this about 20 mins ago. It's me doing it all, of a classic Norwegian black metal song called Transilvanian Hunger, originally recorded by Darkthrone.

C'mon, can I get a comment on my cover of Transilvanian Hunger?
                      Yay, nay, eh?
From someone familiar with the song would be best.

I think the tremolo picking was pretty well spot on. Black Metal tremolo picking can be hard to keep up with without tripping yourself up. Did you do it by ear or use tablature? I just compared your cover and the original, and yours might actually have a more raw/thin guitar sound. But I believe on the original it sounds like they panned the guitar track left and right to get that bigger sound. Which is unusual in Black Metal. Traditional Black Metal was all about raw basement quality recording. Your vocals were actually easier to understand and less distorted, but it's hard to compete with the sinister and ominous howls of Nocturno. All in all, I think it was good. I sat here and listened to the whole song so apparently it held my interest. That main trem pick riff was very hypnotic! Any other Black Metal covers in your future? Don't know if you're able to pull off a Glenn Danzig Evil Elvis croon, but a classic Danzig cover might be fun!

BTW: Anymore thoughts on that new Danzig? Even if it sucked I'd prob still buy it! Own every Danzig release. If you like Danzig, you should really check out his last release, The Lost Tracks (if you haven't already). Excellent sh*t! Crawl Across Your Killing Floor, Bound By Blood, so many tracks that I can't believe didn't make it onto albums.

Thanks. I just did it on a 4-track, so it only has one guitar, one bass, too low(maybe) drums, and vocals, which I ran through a distortion pedal. I might re-do it for my next Kosmokrater CD, it was just something I wanted to do, and really just did it real quick, but that's usually how I work, and how it comes out, is how it comes out. I did not use tabs, so it may not be technically correct, but I write down best what I was hearing from the original. It's hard to do those Culto vocals, I think my more natural vocal is more Tom Warrior like.

I haven't really been giving enough attention to the new Danzig, but I believe I will soon, but I do like what I have heard the few times I've let it play through. I am not sure about doing a Danzig cover, but, I have a song I've been working on, that was written with a Danzig style and vocal in mind, so I will probably use it, not sure when through, my full band ASTRUM starts recording our new album this month.

I currently have Public Image Ltd's "First Issue" on the turntable.

Religion II is the song playing right now.
