ops:
An 18-year-old man surrendered to Bexar County authorities Wednesday afternoon, hours after he allegedly drove a car into a deputy who found him and his girlfriend naked and having sex inside a car on the far Northwest Side.
Evan Paul Zuleger was charged with aggravated assault of a public servant using a motor vehicle. He was booked into the Bexar County Jail and released at about 5 p.m. Wednesday on $20,000 bond.
Deputy Ino Badillo, spokesman for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, said Deputy Eric Sedillo spotted a 2006 Lexus parked near the intersection of Babcock and Scenic Loop just after midnight Wednesday and switched on his lights after seeing two shadows in the back seat.
Badillo said when Sedillo walked up to the car with a spotlight, a naked Zuleger jumped into the front seat and steered the car into the deputy.
Badillo said the deputy, a 12-year veteran of the Sheriff's Office, sustained minor injuries to his hip and leg. Zuleger eventually lost control of the Lexus, crashing into a nearby pole, according to the spokesman.
Badillo said Zuleger, who was still naked, didn't give up then, either, and instead left the car and ran down the street, leaving the girlfriend behind.
“She was left screaming — naked, in the back seat — that he abandoned her, and she was distraught,” he said.
The girlfriend, who wasn't identified, cooperated with authorities and was released without being charged, Badillo said.
Sedillo found Zuleger's wallet inside the Lexus and went to the suspect's Shavano Park home, where a maid allowed the deputy to look for the teen, Badillo said. He said the deputy wasn't able to find the suspect at the house.
Zuleger surrendered to authorities at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
According to Badillo, a small amount of marijuana also was found in the Lexus. The teen has been charged twice this year with possession of marijuana under 2 ounces — once on Feb. 13 and again on April 31, he said.
