You have a lot of similar styles there, so it's hard to tell. The first 3 I'd go for is the Rapé #2, Ettan, and General. They're all standard nicotine strengths, and no super strong flavors.

First, welcome to Snuson hrb!!

I think it is a most excellent first order. No, try wnhatever you lke. Only one of the bunch that *might* make ME sick is the wintergreen, just really don't care for ny minty snus. but that is just me.

Now.....

some standard advice for new folks. will take at least a week for your body to acclimate to salt. Snus will NOT taste right that first week. So largely ignore your first thoughts, and just stay patent with it that first week. After about a week, you will notice the snus tasting different, MUCH better. But first week is tough as the salt plays havoc on how the snus tastes at first.

You WILL quit smoking with it. Literally thousands have here. Just be patient again, don't even worry, smoke if you want, snus if you want. Over about a month I promise you will just come to prefer the snus more. It is a much better nicotine delivery system. But all the advice about quitting smoking all centers on just not stressing and doing what you feel like. I promise, soon, you won't even want a cigarette usually.

As for where to post, we are NOT uptight here at all. Folks post all over the place. Here of course is fine, but just as easily coulda been posted in either of the two top forums too.

Welcome again, and keep asking whatever questions you have. as you go through this first order and tell us what you really like, we can make suggestions on next order

I used to smoke menthols at the end of my smoking career so the first one I ever had post camel was the General Wintergreen..great starter snus once you get past the nice burn

and Skruf Stark Los was my first los experience which was o.k. there are better out there tho IMHO N and J also gets high praise around here.

Yea, I know. They are mostly tryout boxes. I figured out that might be a good place to start. I doubt they design those samplers to drive people away. I have since found the The Northerner website and may try their top ten for my next order and add a few others based one some of the many suggestions on this board.

Thanks for the suggestions. I try them in the order you reocmmend.

welcome hrb, best of wishes on the smoking thing. i was a chain smoker for over 35 years and snus kicked that habit's butt! it really made it a heck of a lot easier to quit. that nick and johnny's has a lot of nicotine in it and throws some good tobacco taste in there to boot, one of my staple snus is oden's extra stark kanel portion. i saw you didn't order any of that, ya might want to try it in the future if you like the nick and johnny's. again, welcome to the forum.

a another suggestion is to try the retro retro white and the lucky strike and the lucky strike white there very good and also dont over look some of the snus that are called budget snus i have found that some of those are top notch the ones i suggested can be fond on northener.com i hope i was able to offer you some good ones and some help also

knox is also a very good one to try and its cheap. i love me some know and also retro which is one of my favs. it smells and tastes good.

I personally smoked for about 7 years, bout 1/2-3/4 a pack a day. As Sage said dont force yourself into the snus, just pop one in and if you feel like a smoke take one. What happened with me was I used american Camel, and usaully I didnt feel much of any nic hit so Id light up afterward. After doing that about 4 times I started to snus but not smoke afterwards, I was cutting my smoking down since I was starting to get use to the nic delivery. I started bumming swedish stuff from my buddy but was still smoking. After awhile I started cutting down to just 1-2 cigs a week because I was feeling sick after smoking. Soon I wasnt smoking at all but I broke and bought a pack and couldnt finish it. I threw the pack away and havent touched one since.

I prefered to start with the mint since its a familiar flavor and I wasnt crazy bout some of the others I tried at first but I like em now. The Skruf cranberry is tasty I think. Its a light cranberry taste with little tobacco taste, I enjoy it.

Well, I have already, kind of.

I was on my very first General portion, about the second or third snus ever. Watching TV in the evening and trying to decide whether or not I was actually enjoying the snus experience. Well, as I usually do when watching TV, I dozed off. With the portion still in my lip, of course. Evidently I started to dream something that was related to the program in progress on the TV. A couple of friends and I were out for dinner at a high end restaurant. We had just finished coctails when the waiter brought our hors d'œuvres. They were these little bite sized things that kind of looked like medium sized scorpions in some kind of sause on clam half shells. I wandered out loud if people actually ate this stuff and was assured they did. "Just pop it in and chew", they said, "they're really very tasty". After making sure they were popping theirs, I popped one in and began to chew. "Hmmm, strange texture", I thought, "I figured they would be crunchy instead of soggy and soft". That's when the pouch broke and I woke up spitting and sputtering looking for the water bottle...

I really hope los is better than that when I do get around to trying it.

I have a General Wintergreen White in right and am sipping on some Jose Cuervo Especial Tequilla. Very NICE!! I think I am enjoying the snusing experience. The white portions sure do keep their flavor for a long time.

That's awesome. Welcome to the wonderful world of snus dreams!!

I love that about snus. I very seldom remember my dreams any more, but if I go to sleep with snus in my mouth, I get the most amazing surrealistic dreams. It's like an adventure when I go to bed. Great fun :^)

I hear ya. The dreams I seem to remember are the ones that are interrupted for one reason or another.
