Just to reply to pretty much eveything here ;

Fallout ; Fallout NV was amazing in my opinion, I've spent several hours on it as I love the series - there is just so many small mysteries to discover and I found that it had pretty decent replay value. I recommend getting DLC if you liked the games, it adds hours and hours of fun and mayhem.

Dishonered ; I've hardly had time to look at this, but I think it's going to be pretty decent - at least it's visually appetizing.

Minecraft : Not quite as great on the visual side, it is a great game though. I've spent many many hours playing the game by now, and it's always best to play with others. Currently I'm on a server with about 6-7 other guys who once in a while spent a weekend playing. I log in every once in a while and I find that you can build so many amazing things. For the price, this game is worth every single penny.

Edit : Mass Effect : In my opinion one of the greatest universes ever created. Playing the game you follow a fantastic story, and you truly get to immerse yourself into the role of Shepherd. I've spent several hours on the triology, replaying it twice, and I wouldn't call the gameplay bad, I guess it's all about how you see it.

Yah it's a small server that only has enough for 12 people, but it was the only way for my wife and I to dig together. She just likes mining so she mines everything for me and then I build stuff with it. We just started a map two days ago, i'll pm you the address if you wanna join in. I havn't played since like 4 updates ago and now they have all kinds of stuff implemented that I don't know what to do with. Right now I am about to build a nice minecart system that goes through my current dig sites. Any help is welcome! But on the I don't have a whitelist but also don't give out the IP publicly so you can get in no prob.

I've been playing Fallout: New Vegas recently -- first time through. I'm close to finishing it, but haven't played any of the DLC yet. Enjoyable, but I don't like it as much as Fallout 3. The whole "choose your side" (read: "choose your favorite flavor of imperialism or go it alone") setup seems very contrived. Plus, I don't like the way they fiddled with the stats, or that companions seem to be almost a necessity. OTOH, they did a good job of capturing the flavor of the region and blending it with the quirky humor of the series overall. The flaws, although glaring, don't ruin the game, thank goodness.

I loved New Vegas. Fallout 3 will always have a special place in my heart/cd case, but New Vegas did a great job IMO. The good thing about choosing sides is that it gives you an oppertunity to play the game again and experience a whole different set of outcomes and missions. Ive played it through 3 times on xbox and will probably do it again on my PC.

I never did like the companion thing in Fallout, mainly because it was never executed very well and the companion was an idiot who would get lost or killed instead of doing anything usefull. Great soundtrack though in new vegas.

The companions usually were useless but i liked E-DE in new vegas a lot. I was playing a sniper character and it helped to have it with you because it warned you from enemies from far away. The soundtrack is nice, but i prefer Fallout 3 songs.

The main quest in sandbox RPG's is always short and boring. I almost never complete question missions untill nearly all of the side missions have been completed. Especially in games like Fallout or Oblivion, where if you get too far in the quest you essentially are locked into a choice of what you can do.

Still it's one of the top 5 games ever made in my opinion, mainly because I love large open world RPG's from Bethesda and such. I still havn't gotten far in Skyrim. I am saving it for a rainy day. I played oblibion and accompanying DLC's for like 300 hours, hope Skyrim will last as long as well.

I'm all about minecraft right now though. Even since you introduced me to the Technic (Tekkit) mods, I feel like I have a whole new world ahead of me. I beat the regular minecraft the other day and killed the ender dragon. Worst last level ever and extremely difficult even if you are cheating, but the end scene where they talk about life being a dream etc was a nice touch.

Fallout 3 is my favorite game in the series, and New Vegas was pretty good (have yet to play the DLC).

I've never tried Skyrim, but I've heard a few glowing reviews. I still don't get the "arrow to the knee" meme, but I'm sure I'll finally get it, when I purchase the game.

Don't get me wrong -- I'm not complaining about the "choosing sides" structure itself. My gripe is that the sides are essentially all oppressive forms of government. Even if you choose to go solo, you have to do so by taking over one of the major factions and becoming an autocrat yourself. I would like to have seen a little more originality and variety in the choice of political structures The Courier can choose to ally with or create. Ideally, I would like be able to form a coalition government with representatives from the Followers, the Boomers, and several of the smaller communities, a real working democratic republic, rather than the hegemonic, expansionist, crypto-fascist mess that the NCR is obviously devolving into. Of course, I have to qualify my opinion by saying that I have yet to get into the end game and see how it all works out in practice, but from the perspective of "almost finished," I'm not really happy with any of the choices presented to me.

You make a good point about companions, however. The companions in New Vegas are definitely superior, both in character development, and in the way they operate in combat. Like Nuusku, I tend to play sniper-type characters, so many times companions are more hindrance than help, but less so in NV than in other games. They certainly come in handy when a band of Legion Assassins pop in from out of nowhere.

My favorite companion is Lily. There's just something about a big, scary Nightkin talking to me like she's my grandma that always gives me a chuckle. :-)

For the Wi-Fi, you're better off buying a new Xbox, as the newer 'S' model has built-in 802.11 a/b/g/n (and it has a dedicated AUX to power the Kinect).

I think the overlying theme of the Fallout series is "War never changes". Following that theme, I think there is also a secondary theme present in both Fallout 3 and New Vegas, which is that "Government never changes". In the first one, it was that robot that was trying to maintain the existing government that fell after the war, and the rich folks all holed on in their big tower. In the new game it is the NCR or the rich weapons dealers etc. The point they are trying to make is that even in a post-apocalyptical wasteland, the same problems would persist regarding the nature of government (or power in general), as well as the wealth divide.

There isn't much utopian shit going on in Fallout in case you havn't noticed, and I think the theme is fitting for the series, which tries to draw attention to the fact that war never changes, government never changes, and wealth and power never changes, regardless of what happens.

Also Lilly was my favorite too for the same reason lol.
