    Greetings from a true newbie

    Greetings All!

I thought I would take a moment to introduce myself. I've been lurking on this board for a few weeks now but thought it would be somewhat presumptuous for me to join in on your discussions since I had never actually tried snus.

That's changed now since I currently have in my very first portion.

I would call myself a "true newbie" since I'd never even heard of snus until a few weeks ago. I was immediately facinated since I concider myself somewhat of a tobacco afficianado, and yet this wonderful product has gone completely unnoticed.

I currently live in Yellowknife, NT, Canada and I first heard of snus in a news article in the Edmonton Journal. The story focused on Imperial Tobacco (makers of DuMaurier cigarettes) test marketing their brand of Swedish Snus in the Edmonton area. The article peeked my curiosity right away, and after a little research I ordered 5 cans from buysnus.com.

My anctiously awaited order arrived this morning and I tried my very first portion of General on the way to work. The scent of the snus when I first opened the can put me off a little. It smells to me somewhat like a household cleaner I can't put a name to. The taste however was much more pleasant and unlike any other tobacco product I have ever used. I must say I am enjoying the taste and the nicotine very much. Also, the descreetness of the snus is quite surprising. I was unsure how large a "large" portion would be, and how it much it would show under my lip. So far it has gone unnoticed by my co-workers.

I've enjoyed reading all of your snus related discussions so far and I am excited about joining in now that I know firsthand a little about the subject.

Hope you're all having a great day,

    Welcome to the forum!

I did just the same. Well, I could have joined earlier, to ask questions, but the only real doubt, that was left, before I placed my first snus-order, was if snus really has enough nicotine. This doubt was blown away, when I tried my first portion.

    Cheers!

Welcome to the forums! I had the same experience when I first tried snus (General). You get used to the smell when you open up a can and even look forward to giving it a sniff once you've become a full addict! lol

We look forward to reading your reviews as you try a couple of different tins. I'd imagine one bonus to living in Yellowknife is that you can leave a can out in the car most months and not worry about it going bad! At any rate, happy snussing!

I have noticed that if a portion is on the right hand side (most of the time), I feel like it is nearly invisible. Similar to when I had my first portion though, if I pop a portion in my left I feel like I have a cinderblock in my mouth...
