Usually movies made from books I've read don't come close to what I've already "filmed in my head", but Fear And Loathing is an exception!

I've suspected since I first saw it that Johnny Depp and Benecio Del Toro did a lot of off-screen "research" to hone their portrayals...

Know your dope fiend. You will not be able to see his eyes because of tea shades, but his knuckles will be white from inner tension and his pants will be crusted with semen from constantly jacking off when he can't find a rape victim.

That and the script for the film is taken almost verbatim from the book - it's incredible! I don't know any other film that has even come close to that sort of faithfulness, I agree.

I have read the book, and see the movie. I believe there is one chapter in the book that is not in the movie - the rest is almost word for word, as zero stated.

          Great book. Great movie.

              The Wolf:

You have impeccable taste in film, that's for sure. Eraserhead is my number one as well, and fan of Jodorowsky as well. Excellent, excellent stuff. Even Cannibal Holocaust. Sad that such an ingeniously made horror film gets so overlooked. The Blair Witch Project would have never been made if it weren't for Cannibal Holocaust.

                Thank you, thank you.

If you liked Eraserhead as much as I did, I'd strongly suggest you to watch Meshes of the Afternoon if you haven't already seen it (it's easily available on YouTube in two parts). It's propably the most important American avant-garde film ever and influenced Mr. Lynch in many of his films.
