I cannot believe that you would even argue that social security is not a failure. People pay into it their whole lives, and pretty soon they will be getting nothing in return because there are less young people paying into the system than there are of old people wanting to collect their SS check. Even democrats agree that SS is in for trouble in the coming years.


And as for why some people support it, is because IT SENDS THEM A CHECK EVERY MONTH. People will go against what they believe if there is monitary gain involved. It does not,however, change the fact that the system is broken and we need to reform or remove it.

AMEN to that. I dont care what you do, as long as it does not infringe on anothers rights.

Like this new "hate crime" legislation. I dont care if you are gay and want to be gay, have a ball... but if you piss me off in a bar and I hit you like I would anyone who pisses me off, YOU have special protection and I have now commited a felony. So now being gay makes you an elite member of society with special priveladges and protections. = wrong.

I agree, hurting someone because they are gay is wrong, or if they are black, or white, or women etc.

But even hitting an innocent women in the face carries a lesser charge than if I shove a gay person, should they decide to pull the hate crime card.

Its like equal oppertunity employment rules: During the times were blacks could not find jobs and there was segregation, this law was necessary, but now it has gone in the other direction and is actually racially discriminating against white people.

Yeah that employment stuff is really out of hand! Try being a white guy and joining the post office or fire departmeant in my city! I am puerto-rican and I can say for a fact it is becoming more and more the "white man' who is has it the worst! I mean try being a white person and getting on social services it is way harder! I have a friend who needed food stamps when her wic ended! They only gave her food stamps for like 8 mths! Mean while a women who lives next who is african american and spends her food stamps on things like seafood, lobster shrimp steak, and has been getting them for yrs! How does that even out?

lol, yah i'm half "white" and half Puerto Rican myself. But I normally check caucasian on my forms. But its true, its harder to get everything if your white, even from your own government!

Half Puerto-Rican, half Sicilian here. Social welfare programs is a form of covert racism and discrimination, creating a dependent welfare class out of ethnic minorities. In turn, power-hungry politicians peddle new and fantastic ways to give you something for nothing so you continue voting them in. Then the wealth-producing classes (including a modest working class) flips the bill. The rich do serve a function in society - they provide the wealth to create the jobs, to increase their own profits. It's a mutually beneficial exchange. But no, no! Those greedy bastards (every single one of them, even the philanthropists) horde every single penny, spending them on Lamborghinis and Island Resorts, while the helpless unfortunate starve (joke).

I work in social services, and fraud is rampant. Duplicate entries abound and people spend welfare cash on all other sorts of things other than necessities. Touch their benefits, and liberals scream that you are racist and mean-spirited, that the unfortunate poor people need help. In my experience in a helping profession, the best help is to not give something to someone for nothing, that just perpetuates the cycle - helping them change their perspective in life and see their potential to succeed does. Poverty is a funny thing - it's pushed in our face in the media, yet only about 15% of the overall population meets the standard for poor (and this is in recessionary times with a jacked-up unemployment rate). I do feel empathy for the people struggling to find jobs. But there is that always constant 10% of poor. Let's break down that statistic further. How many of these are dependent children who earn no income? How many of these are college kids living on student loans? How many are in between jobs voluntarily? Now that we've stripped away the distortions, you are left with the a more accurate figure. A significant number of this figure voluntarily defraud the welfare system, have extensive criminal histories, and struggle with drug and alcohol dependency. So they are there by decision and choice. Let's factor in race here too - it is true that de facto racism exists to some extent in workplace culture. But it doesn't have the substantial effect that the liberal media and colleges claim it does. It's overplayed for political effect.

The major delusion is that you can create a Utopian world with absolutely no problems, everyone makes the same money, and has a smile on their face. And at least as my personal experience goes, trying to create something perfect contributes more problems than you initially started with.

I couldn't have said that better. These numbers we hear on the news do not provide the whole story. The fact is that genuinely poor people need help, but they are few. Trying to claim that 50 million people are starving and going without healthcare etc is just an outright lie.

The communist idea of an equal society is contrary to human nature, and therefore is a concept which will enver come to fruition. Some people will be successfull, they become rich and employ the middle class. We need everyone, including the rich, to be successfull.

There will always be criminals and drug addicts who are a strain on the system.
