Wow. This is the only generic hockey thread I found.....

Ok. So I took the kids to a Lightning game tonight. Neither of them had seen a minute of hockey before (I don't have cable and their mom and her man are baseball fans only).

My son loved it....granted it was a great game, 5-4 Devils won, three fights and the Lightning pulled the goalie in the last minute of play. Even though we lost the game, a new hockey fan was made this evening. He was so intent on the game and learning the rules.....so happy. His favorite part was the fights.

My daughter fell asleep fifteen minutes into the first period. She was bored.....but she is still young. She woke up and clapped every time the lightning scored though. She said she liked it but doesn't want to go again this season. She said maybe when she is older.

I really love watching hockey and am glad my son is excited about the game. I grew up watching the Devils and Rangers but, we are going to be a lightning family. I love the game, don't care who I am rooting for (and rooting for the home team is always the best).

    Any one else like hockey?

I wish we had a team in the NHL... We have the Thunderbirds, but that's junior hockey (which I don't really follow).

Until Seattle joins the NHL... Go Canucks Go!

I can see a baseball. I can see a football. Hell, I can see a golf ball. But I can't see a hockey Puck except in the slowmo replay.

Hockey is like nascar where the fights are like the crashes, the only thing that interest me.

        JK guys

I hadn't been to a game since I was a kid. Seeing it live is the way to go and, here at the Forum, even the nosebleeds are good seats. We were able to follow the puck the whole game. I forgot how good it is to be at a game.

Calgary Flames fan here! Was a defencemen for a season and a left wing for another season back in middle school. Training now and will hopefully be playing in university for the UBC Thunderbirds. But yeah even here in Hong Kong ice hockey is extremely popular despite the humid subtropical weather, we have tonnes of indoor ice rinks!
