Losing control of two branches of government last fall obviously taught them nothing, and it isn't as if the 3rd branch isn't going to get any more Republican when a Democrat nominates new justices that they can't easily reject. I suspect that they'll be in for an even bigger surprise next fall.

You mean like how the democrats didn't learn anything after they lost everything during post-clinton years? The pendulum goes back and forth my friend. Dems have been claiming the GOP is dead for the past 50 years. Surely next election will be republicans and then one after that dems etc. Its all the same imo.

We can agree on one thing, and that is that the republicans share blame in all this liberal crazyness because the republicans are too lazy to do shit. They havn't accomplished anything since reagan.

I dont want the republicans to win next election, I want to see a third party. I am tired of both side because they are both hypocrites and just different sides of the same coin. They just want to rob us.

Lol, I can't wait for next fall though to see the dems step back off of their high horse. Unfortunately even if reps win, which they will, it will just continue to be more of the same...

The reason there is a constitution is to prevent the US house and Senators from writing into law anything unconstitutional. Yet this continues everyday. What is a point of a constitution if it is always be reinterpreted? **** all of you who believe differently because it is not a matter of belief but fact. The majority of laws that have been written by our representatives have been unconstitutional. Any powers given to them have to be granted under the constitution. If they are not granted under the constitution a vote of the populous must occur. This "interpretation" of the constitution is bullshit. If it is not obviously spelled out in the constitution it should never come before congress. Yet, we see so many unconstitutional laws being passed. Where is it written that I am obligated by law to take care of my neighbor, must feed and clothe those that are the "have nots"? If we as a country want all of these things then we can personally vote for them. If the constitution is to be constantly reinterpreted and unconstitutional laws continue to pass, we truly have little rights left.

Where did you get the idea that we live in a democracy? There is no "vote of the populous". This is a Republic, we elect people into office who we want to represent us. That's the way it is spelled out in the Constitution, and it exists to ensure mob rule does not take over the governing of our nation.

The Constitution gives our Federal government the ability to create executive bureaus and laws, when passed via the Legislative branch and signed into action by the Executive branch. If no case proving it is against the law of the land can be brought before the Supreme Court, it will remain law. These rules are explicitly spelled out in the constitution.

The Declaration of Independence of this nation declares that our government exists to secure our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The Constitution exists to define how our government operates in order to further this goal. In the Constitution, the government is given rights to make laws to protect our wellbeing.

As for interpretation, a governing document written over 200 years ago must absolutely be constantly re-interpreted to fit with the way of current times. Of course, I'd never expect someone who says "**** all of you who believe differently because it is not a matter of belief but fact" to understand that things change, nothing is static, and that all things that can be interpreted should be interpreted.

You know what, I need to know something. Where the hell were you people during the 8 years Bush actually was taking away all of our freedoms with the Patriot act, when he was stop-lossing troops for two to three tours, when he was spending like no President had ever spent. Where were you to protest the "government takeover" then? If you're not against Democrats per se, but both parties, where the hell were you when the real atrocities were happening?

Everyone's going nuts over what MIGHT happen right now. We MIGHT give insurance to illegal immigrants, we MIGHT pay more on our electric bill, we MIGHT not get to own automatic assault weapons. Where the hell was the outrage when we WERE losing our rights?

sgreger, I give you a pass since you're such a youngin.

I gotta agree with this. Probbaly because everyone was still caught up in the post 9-11 mindset of "just stop the terrorists at any cost". I was always against these things but was admittedly less vocal about it than I am now.

Obama had the chance to change some of these things but instead is just continuing the patriot act, rendition, the wars etc. Bush stopped the stop loss-thing before he left and toned down deployments back to 12 months, but still, to wait untill 5 minutes before you leave office is kind of a dick move

, when he was spending like no President had ever spent.
Untill now, lol. Between Bush and Obama I think the US has spent more money than most countries ever have.

It's like the worst of both worlds the way I see it, for 8 years the fascists spent all the money on wars, and now for at least 4 years we will see the commies spend all of our money on social programs, and the wars.

Either way we are getting ****ed.

Because unemployment rates are officially at around 10% and estimates claim that the real number may actually be higher.
Noooo not rises to 5% but falls to 5%. At that point the Fed will declare the economy is stable and begin to raise the interest rates. THEN all hell breaks lose.

5% is the number you are watching for. It’s the first horseman of the Apocalypse

Ah, now I see. Yes people are focusing on the quick way out of this recession, but often times it is once things are percieved as "stable" that all the madness really starts again.

The fed, for one reason or another, is growing in size and power and they will surely royally **** all of us as soon as they get the chance to raise the rates, under the guise of well everything better now !!!

Bernanke is already saying the recession is most likely over.

EVERYONE PAY OFF YOUR CREDIT CARDS AND GET OUT OF DEBT, if you want to survive the next 10 years. It is a bad time to be in a lot of debt.

The Fed, like the IRS, has become far too powerful. Here's an article on the Fed denying Obama and Geithner's audit request:

Why would someone bring up the very thing they don't want to discuss?
                            Isn't that counterproductive?
