lxskllr: i tried to think of what the strings band you were thinking of was. never came up with anything, but you should check out the band unexpect. i have the album in a flesh aquarium. its the most interesting metal ive heard in some time. very different, very good.

another good band sort of similar is sigh. neither are really similar in sound, but do different things and bring jazz into their music.

Chadizzy- I wanted to post Devil's Dance Floor but all I could find were fan videos. And Drunken Lullabies is just an awesome song- Vegan and I have seen them live 3 times, they put on a damn good show. I actually have the claim to fame of being the girl that passed out and got carried out of one of them (heat, not drunk, heh) I never know who to watch when they are playing... 7 people to chose from, it's a hard one. Cheers!

This is pretty interesting. They have some Zappa like touches, and quirky changes that make it a surprise as to what's coming next. Very appropriate band name :^)

These guys have a kind of retro sound to me. It sounds like an extension of 70s hard rock/metal. I just listened to Midnight Sun. It has a 60s groove to it. ? and the Mysterians on crank :^D

I love Tori Amos' music. I don't know what happened on her last couple of albums though.........the songs are kind of boring, with no hook. It looks as if she has had a lot of "bodywork" done as well; I always thought she was above that kind of thing.

My favorite album is actually the one she did with all of the cover songs; one of the best cover albums I've heard. 8)

best new band in the last 10 years.

                                Another really great band:

                                <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TAP5Sr3R638&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed>

I've been listening to this band for 9 years. Somewhere in that time frame they got on a major label. (Hopefully our resident Republicans don't visit this thread!!) Embedding disabled, so go here-
