I'm convinced my body's internal clock is MADE to wake me up in the afternoon and go to sleep at the crack of dawn.
Whenever I have holidays it takes less than two days for my body to shake the business hours outta me.
In fact, trying to keep a sleep/wake routine for normal work-weeks feels like trying to keep two magnets aligned with equal polarities.
Why the **** should it take SO much discipline even though I don't go out and don't drink?
I read somewhere that fighting your internal clock is one of the most futile things in life because even though you're doing "the right thing" for your livelihood, you're still causing yourself bodily harm in the long term.

I think we must have the same internal clock. I too find that my body wants to wake up in the noon and go to sleep at dawn, though school often prevents me from keeping to this schedule. But all summer long I was waking up in the late afternoon and going to sleep at dawn. It was wonderful. My body just likes the nighttime better than the day.

Same here. I stopped fighting my internal clock long ago, having the luxury of a job that lets me do so, and I am vastly more productive for it. I go to sleep when I'm tired and wake up when my body naturally decides to and it's great. Ususally that ends up being falling asleep in the morning and waking up in late afternoon, but sometimes it runs around in circles too. Trying to force it to change with alarm clocks and forcing sleep at night makes me the most miserable and useless sack of wasted skin on the face of the earth. Back in university I literally slept through about 80% of my classes simply because they were during the day. That was even long before I had ever had even a drop of nicotine in my body - I didn't start smoking until near the end of my master's degree (out of desperation!) and didn't start snusing until almost two years after that.

Mine kind of goes in circles at times too. There was a point during the summer when I was going to sleep around 5 o'clock in the evening and waking up around 2 a.m. This was when I was on a bit of a writing spree and was hitting a 24 hour coffee place in the middle of the night. My, I wish I had those days back. I'd be at least twice as productive and certainly a lot happier.
Hopefully someday I'll land myself a job that allows me to sleep whenever I feel like sleeping. If the music or the writing ever works out, you'll find me heaving my alarm clock into the Willamette River and screaming with joy.

During the week, once I get out of bed and get headed to work I am up for the day (this includes dragging myself to the shower, and falling asleep in there at least once). As soon as friday comes, I'm up untill the crack of dawn and sleep untill noon all weekend... which makes going to bed at a decent time on Sunday night a battle. ugh.

School + Working until 11pm-12am (depending on the mood of the manager) is a bad combination for good sleeping habits. I've had trouble sleeping at a decent time my entire life. Last summer I decided to see where my internal clock was set. If I fall asleep around 9am I can wake up on my own (no alarms) at 5pm and feel great. If I try to sleep on any other schedule then I'll always be tired, regardless of how many hours of sleep I get.
I also do this weird thing where no matter what time I go to bed, if I don't set an alarm I'll usually sleep until 4-5pm. I can go to bed at midnight, 4am, whenever, and without fail I'll sleep until then. It's very frustrating. I'm pretty much convinced I have delayed sleep phase syndrome. I can only get myself on a decent schedule for a few days. Once I have to stay up late to do homework or study my schedule is off whack again. The most successful treatment is to simply try to work around your natural schedule from what I've read.

this has happened to me the whole week since saturday
I've been goin to bed at around 3:30-4:00 in the morning!!
But thats mainly cuz I love watching ice hockey, and I don't get the NHL in germany until 1:30, which really sucks :/
But hey, I wasn't tired, so i didn't see a problem with stayin up
I dont have school this week anyway, so.... 8)
