It's our recycling program. You get a certain amount of money for each bottle you recycle, usually 5 cents.

An avid drinker myself (or at least used to be), me and my roomate would tags bags (and bags ang bags) of our old bottles and recycle them... for beer money of course.

i used to live in ca you pay a small fee just like the 5 cent deposits. you get it back when you recycle them. some stores had a can crushing vending machine. or take them to a recycleing center. used to make good pocket money when i was a kid doing that but you needed alot. it was alot less then a nickle a can when i was doing it around 1988-99. the beach after the 4th of july was like xmas get a couple hundred bucks in a car load not bad for a unemployed teen..

If I saved all of my beer cans/bottles i've ever drank and recycled them, even for a penny, I would have a small fortune.

I think CA just doesn't lock in the rate per bottle. It depends on where you recycle and it's always been based on weight, at least all the places I have gotten paid to recycle.

Glass is heavy and doesn't pay much per pound, collect cans if you are trying to get money.

man after having 10 cent recycling, it would suck to do 5 cents.
