Woot has refurb Acer netbooks $229.99 until 11:59PM Central Time 10-16-09, or until they sell out. I know you were looking for something before, I don't know if you still are...

I have an Asus Eee900 and I love it. I have my mother my dual core laptop because I wasn't using it any more. I much prefer the small size of the netbooks for a portable computer.

FWIW, I have an Acer, would NOT buy another.

Sound died after 3 weeks, many of the keys stick really badly. I literally have to spend 5 minutes proofreading and correcting 10 words at least for every post. And I have now gone through 3 power cords that have failed, my last one lasting exactly 6 days.

I had a chance to see the new Dell netbook for the first time the other day. A tad heavier, but bigger keys and quality 1000% better then the Acer

Wow, that's a great deal but I think I am going to get a laptop from work so I can work at home some. I really appreciate you remembering that I wanted one.

Instead of buying a netbook, I am looking into buying an Itouch with the 32 gig memory. If I do, I am going to order it through Apple because they engrave it for free. I am going to get "ProudMarineDad" on the first line and "Joshua 1:9 KJV" on the second line. That is probably my favorite Bible verse for two reasons. One for the message and two is the fact that Joshua is my son's name.

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9 KJV

ProudMarineDad is my gamertag for my Xbox 360 and PS3 as well.

I think that that is very appropriate for an Itouch.

I have an iPhone that I don't use for phone service anymore and it is actually pretty close to a laptop replacement! The new iPod touch would be almost as good.

I mainly use mine for email (I am around wifi pretty much all day at my restaurants) and the main tasks I do can be done very well on a iPhone/touch.

Plus there is no better entertainment around for while sitting on the pot

I highly recommend it, unless you need a full computer.

I have a 32GB 3GS, and it's awesome...damn near a computer replacement, I use Jaadu VNC to fully access my home machines, SSH to access client systems, the games are at LEAST PSP quality, some better, and the new augmented reality apps are getting cooler by the day.

If only I could find a good bluetooth or docking fold-up keyboard, I'd be complete.

I have no idea what those things are that you mention above but they sound really cool. Looking forward to checking out the different apps too.

                              PSP = Playstation Portable.

The Augmented reality stuff are things that use your camera and/or the compass to direct the program. There's a cool zombie fragging game called SurrounDEAD which makes you stand up and spin in all directions to shoot zombies. It uses the compass to know which direction you're facing.

Video apps are getting better. There's one for kids where they have to shake the phone to power up a "fairy detector", then fairies start becoming visible all over the place through the phone's camera...so they see them in their house, car, wherever, and have to tap them.

Supposedly a company is coming out with a Pac Man Augmented Reality game. Little dots show up all over the place and you have to walk around and collect them, but avoid ghosts which come from all directions...but you actually have to walk around your own house, because it's played through live video.
