Hmmm, I myself have to side with the federation. Somebody mentioned the mythology of Star Wars. It's not the mythology of star wars and the more I think about it, not the allegory of star wars. If you are to believe what Joseph Campbell believed these stories were just modern day myths, allegories and parables. Which they were but that doesn't take away the fact that they were retreads of prior Myths,Allegories, and Parables. Anakin Skywalker Is Not JC. My God, was that suppose to be a far out concept. Please.... So yes, I need to vote with 2 Spock hands up for Trek. Live long and prosper Y'all.

      Star Trek all the way.

I always felt that Star Wars, while a good story (Episodes 4-6), tried to be too much. As a child (I was 6 when I saw Star Wars in the theater) it was all about the special effects with the story line being just a side effect. And it is a pretty close rip off of the Foundation series by Asimov.

As I have grown up, I have made this observation:

Star Trek is about humanity. It is mans struggle in a much larger galaxy than we know and how he finds his way, oh and sex with hot alien chics.

The real question should have been Kirk vs. Picard.

Now that would be one hell of a debate :P

I was a little worried about the newest movie but I can honestly say that it was almost my favorite one.

I can't believe it is this close. Star Trek sucks.

For instance dressing up as a Star Wars costume is cool. Dressing in a Star Trek costume is the epitome of nerd. I saw zero Star Trek costumes last night on beggars night but at least four or five Star Wars costumes including my son.

Star Wars. (I was on an iphone at the doc.s office yesterday, so didn't really type to much) I know the new ones get a lot of flack, but besides ep. 1, I enjoyed the other two. Yes Anakin was whiny. Yes Jar Jar makes me want to smash my face in with a rock, but people were gonna compare them to the original. If someone else made those same movies in a different universe with a different name, they would have been classic. My wife and I dressed up and saw Ep. 3 on opening night. It was awesome.

And also IJ4 wasn't that bad either. I don't see why people hated it as much as they do. Sure it's the weakest of the 4, but it was still good.

man. kirk vs picard is a tough one. i mean i love kirk for letting his fists do the talking, and gettin it on with space chicks. but i love picard for being superior at diplomacy and being so regal. i wish id watched more of deep space 9.

            TREK OWNS WARS.

star wars is such a kiddy sci fi franchise. i used to love it, but its all about trek and bsg now.

As far as I'm concerned it all went wrong for Star Wars when they introduced Ewoks to the story. C'mon, who thought space teddy bears was a good idea for f*cks sake? I cheered every time the empire bullseyed one of those fuzzy little bastards.

The latest Star Trek film was great and the guy playing the young Spok was uncannily like Leonard Nimoy.

I quite liked the last Indiana Jones film too, not a lot, but I liked it.

From what I heard the Ewoks were originally supposed to be Wookies. The empire forced the Wookies into slavery to build the death star. But, the Wookies seemed a little too scary for younger audiences and were miniaturized. It would make more sense that the Wookies could help fight off the empire and would tie in with the attack on the Wookies in Episode III. Also, it would explain why Chewbacca seems to be expert mechanic.

Oh, and if you liked the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull then your opinion is irrelevant.

To be fair, I did say I didn't like it a lot! I guess it was the nostalgia value of Harrison Ford putting the old Fedora on again.

As for those bloody Ewoks, I heard they were to be a race of forest dwelling lizards but, as you say, they were changed to make the film more family friendly.

Indiana Jones meets the x-files =

What is the Ework origin?. Weren't they supposed to be wookies? But lucas is like "Midgets are funny" "They make me feel better about myself" so decided to have them instead.

I guess these things go through several drafts but I remember seeing pencil sketches for the original Ewoks somewhere. They looked a bit like skinny raptors. Also I seem to remember that it was Speilburg who made the decision to change the Ewoks and not Lucas.
