I don't see how that makes them as contemptible as the Empire.

Beyond that, the whole situation was being controlled by a Sith lord who had worked his way into the Chancellor position and the dark side of the force clouds the Jedi's ability to see it. The Jedi recognized Anakin's problems, the wait and see part involved the prophecy that was made about Anakin. The Republic didn't crumble, it was destroyed by Darth Sidius. Maybe you didn't like the prequels but I think you are misunderstanding these plot points.

I remember the scene when they let Anakin on the council in Revenge of the Sith, but they "Did not bestow upon him the rank of master..", that's when he got really mad...and I think that was one of the turning points. In essence, they created Darth Vader at that moment. Among others, of course.

Chancellor Palpatine requested that he be appointed to the council. Also, the reason Anakin turned was because Sidius told him that he could teach him how to save Padme. The Jedi council didn't even think Anakin should be trained at all.

And then the Mace Windu said something like "You're on the council...but we don't grant you the rank of master...", and that REALLY pissed him off. I think that was a big part of his turn, that and killing all the sand people...but then again, he seems cursed since the beginning. I watched a documentary recently and they called him "the ultimate whiny teenager"...so, I think he didn't have a chance. The hunger for power seems to always lead down a dark road.

All part of Sidius' plan and another example of the Jedi council's understanding that Anakin is flawed. The danger of the sith is that they deal in deception and treachery.

              Sith Lord

So what's the best snus for an up-and-coming Sith Lord?

How about the understated 'LD Black?'

Or I know a Klingon ship just loaded with dripping-fresh Lucky Strike and Montecristo. She's at the edge of the Neutral Zone as we speak, and she takes VISA!

I like both, but Star Trek is better to me.

But really, Gundam beats both by a mile IMHO

Yeah, "Crystal Skull" sucked ass, for sure.

I think Lucas just got old, and all the wonder of the original SW trilogy got lost on him. Spielberg as well.

There's something about youthful exuberance and love for a subject (as Lucas had when he made the original SW) that disappears once you've made your money, and you've been sitting on your ass and aging in front of CNN for 30+ years.

Did I want to see Darth Vader turned into a whiny little ****er with mommy/daddy issues who discusses politics with his equally whiny wife? Hell No. I want Vader to kick ass. Kenobi also turned into a whiny little bitch in the prequels.

If the rumors are true about another trilogy, I really hope Lucas turns it over to someone younger and better-qualified.

To me most episodes of BSG had ten minutes of plot crammed into an hour of program. And holy crap was that last episode ever stupendously lame. Also I always had the strong urge to buy a damn tripod for the cameramen. All that bobbing and weaving got old after about two minutes. Worse still the show's style has infected the puckish Stargate franchise and turned it into a sloppy mess of gritty humorless angst. Bleh.

I think the 3 original Star Wars movies were great, I hated the ones that came after, they were like big cartoons.
I like the Star Trek movies with the original cast, I think those were great, but I don't care for the ones that came later, and that last one was OK, but still, I didn't care for it, I hate computer effects.
