Denmark has one of the highest standards of living in the world with an average income of US$ 38,600 per capita (2005). That's slightly better than in the U.S.
I just had to reply to this. Highest standard of living? You are either from Denmark or seriously screwed in your head.
Take a look at this link, buddy. Do you even have the slightest idea about how life is in Denmark? Have you ever been there? Based on the comment i quoted you for, all logic seems to say no.
Taken directly from the article that i linked to.
"Intensivstuer med døde fluer og spindelvæv, patienttoiletter med svamp samt operationsstuer med snavs og rust er virkeligheden på københavnske hospitaler."
Directly translated.
Hospital rooms with dead flies, spiderweb, toilets with rotten sponge, surgery rooms with dirt and grease are the reality on the hospitals in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The article also states that 7 ouf of 10 hospitals in Denmark does not even meet the standards required for cleaning and hygiene. Please tell me what hospital patients dying because of hygiene and cleaning problems in Denmark has to do with a high living standard. Because obviously your claims about Denmark being a country with a high standard of living is completely retarded.
This is facts taken from the real world. And not your fictive happy-denmark-delusional / fantasy world.

You seem to have some kind of traumas from living in Denmark.
First you've got to calm down and avoid insulting people on forums.
Then learn that every single country has its ups and downs, it difference from one region to another.
Obviously there's going to be poorly doted hospitals in the rural areas..
I have lived in Denmark all years.... and yes the high taxes sucks, but i am happy. The system works a bit different here, then us...
For our tax money, everybody is health insured, all schools are free (also university), you get pocket money from the state during your education, the state pays went you retire, retirement homes are free, the state cover a minimum salery if you get uemployed etc.
Thoose things cost, and they are nice to have
Denmark both sucks and rocks. The taxes are high, but it pays for a lot of benefits; free education, no road taxes, free hospitals and much more. Yes its free when you use it, but we pay with taxes. This is a great because the Danes with high salaries or income helps the lower part of the country.
Crime isn't high and the prisons are not a hotel as stated in the article. Some open prisons are as described, but the hard criminals are obtained in cells with small windows, bars and no kitchens. There are tv rooms and shared kitchens.
Dont get me wrong; we have problems in Denmark. But they are - as I see them - small. The biggest problem is in my opinion racism. One of the leading parties in our parliament is almost neonazies. This is a problem for the integration of foreigners. They do not feel like home, like a part of Denmark, and this leads into crime.
Hospitals could be better, elder care need some work and we need a new government.
But the bottom line is, that Denmark is a great country. Not the best, but certainly up there.
