When I was stationed in Germany, I acquired a taste for single malt Scotch. There was a little British commissary on base that sold it for dirt cheap. I especially enjoy the peaty varieties from the Islay region, most notably Laphroaig. It's the best drink I have ever had. Like liquid gold. Anyways, I've been back in the states for a couple years but it's too expensive. Today my wife surprised me with a bottle for my birthday and I'm so thrillled. So, any more Scotch fans?
Any Scotch drinkers?

I've never been into scotch, but a couple years ago a girl bought me a bottle of The Balvenie for Christmas. It's single malt, and I still have half a bottle left. Not to say it's bad, it might be great, but I just don't know scotch. I'm more of a Tennessee or canadian blended kinda guy. In other words, JD or Crown Royal.

I haven't drank Scotch in a long time. I used to get the occasional bottle of Dewar's. But, since my cousin introduced me to Irish whiskey 4 or 5 years ago, I can't remember buying a bottle of Scotch since.
To my shame, I've never had a good single malt, but I've recently gotten into single barrel Bourbon, so maybe I'll look for a good single malt when I've got the cash.

as it happens im drinking some macallan 12 year single malt right now, in fact just posted that in the whats in your mouth thread before reading this. its good stuff but so expensive, id never buy it for myself. it was a birthday gift.
usually im a bourbon drinker, or the occasional jameson. i drank a lot of gin in the last year, but i think it gave me a juniper allergy, so i havent touched the stuff in a while.

I am not a connoisseur of scotch, however I do like to drink it.
If I want scotch mixed with something I use Chivas Regal. ($25-$30/bottle)
If I want it served neat, or with a little ice I use Glenlivet 12. ($30-$35/bottle)
I don't like spending more that about 30-35 dollars for a bottle of scotch. I have to work for a living.
