The "I hate waiting for packages!" thread

I stole this Idea from the 'general' section of another forum I frequent. It's kind of a way for members to get to know other interests of each other and talk about shared hobbies (other than just Snus). Basically there are no rules. Maybe try and post a link to where you bought it from, some details if you want, and a pic for fun. I'll start with a few below.

    1x can of General Portions
    1x can of Ettan Portions

Have yet to try either one of these, and they are the heavy hitters so I figured I should give em a taste

ZALMAN ZM-NB47J Aluminum Northbridge Chipset Heatsink from Newegg.com. My Northbridge fan on my ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard sounds like a blender full of nails and broken glass. I decided to go with a passive cooler and this thing got good reviews.

I have the same motherboard. It pisses me off to find out that using SLI doesn't do diddly squat to increase the visual speed of my games. I mean, in ways that I can notice a difference. Since the PCI express splits up the speed between the two x16 slots and run at x8 each.
        what a ****ing joke!

right now I have one of these fat suckers sitting on one of my 7800 GT's

POS computer locks up at least 3 times a day. Inconsistent as ****. It just does it WHENEVER, it doesn't matter what I'm running or not running. So I'm not sure if it's windows or a hardware problem. Memtest86 reports just fine after 3 consecutive tests with my 2GB of Patriot ram. Too damn lazy to figure it out so I just deal with it for now.

I have a EVGA 122-ck-nf66-t1, it is a solid board so far. No heat issues at all. Then again I also have it in a Mountinmods case, so there is cooling to spare. I think SLI is very over rated. Upgrading your card just makes more sense to me.

Realm of Opeth - I have seen similar symptoms in other PCs, what size (in watts) PSU are you running? Running SLI is a power hog with duel 7800s. My board has been really stable for several years of overclocking abuse. The Northbridge fan is the first thing I've had an issue with, and that's the common issue.

I have seen the same thing. Is the board still unstable when you are only running one card?

Realm... I'd run memtest overnight just to be sure, it doesn't always pick up problems on the first couple of passes. I'm sure you know this, but make sure you boot to memtest. You don't want to run it from Windows, as all the memory won't get tested. It does sound like a psu to me also. If you don't have testing equipment, you can swap it with a known good unit to see if there's improvement. A psu should be a quality brand also. All the wattage in the world isn't any good if it isn't clean and stable. I'd take a slightly underpowered Seasonic to a megawatt Powmax any day of the week.

Well I pre-empted the PSU problem because I knew that with having only 550 watts running 5 hard drives, 2 dvd writers and about 7 fans isn't going to handle another video card. I have a 850 watt Antec quattro.

I have ran it without the extra card in, same problems I think. Probably just a stupid ass windows problem. I don't exactly run it off of the prime "C" drive setup. I got windows on P drive, (weird I know). C drive holds the boot info (NTLDR) and gives me 3 options to boot (all windows of the same version) so I have to select the second one. as the first was my previous install (that is actually deleted because it became absolutely crippled in various ways) and the third is another install i tried but it was one of my own customized versions of windows that I didn't feel like committing to.
I'd like to get a terabyte drive and dump all my shit to it...format the other drives I got and install windows on a small drive. have virtual memory on it's own partition, etc.
i have tons of games, programs, movies, music, porn, etc. that I don't feel like losing.
ideally I wouldn't even **** with a hard drive as I just don't trust them that much. I would like to put all my irreplaceable, hard to get back stuff I find worth a shit on dvd's. but that's even more of a pain in the ass. The drives I have now might be their own problem for why I'm locking up so much. I've had too many drives take a shit out of nowhere.

I'm waiting for one of these:

                    To augment one of these:

                    that I'm already using.

Any other home roasters here? I wish I could afford a Probat or Diedrich, but I can't and the shipping would be murder!

I've got an iRoast2. Not as serious as your roasters jmcphail, but it does the job for me as I generally only have a cup or two a day. Where do you buy your coffee? If I want something that isn't Kona, I order it from Sweetmarias.com.

I never knew there was a roasting hobby. You learn something new every day.
