I propose we all weigh in the day before Thanksgiving and the day after. i plan on putting a solid 15lb on after it's all done lol.

Anyone hear about any good deals for black friday?

Sage, i'd invite you to CA but frankly my family's cooking isn't worth driving 30 min, let alone 5 days lol

Btw were you able to find employment yet?

Fortunately, my family and I were invited to a friend's house so that means no cooking for me! The other great thing, the get-together is in the evening which means I'll get to lay around all day in my pajamas and watch the Lions/Packers game!!! If I had to go to the in-laws, I would quickly and mysteriously come down with a highly contagious illness.

That's it! Swine flu WAS engineered by the gov! But alas, I thought it was for evil, instead it was to strategicly arm the citizens with an excuse to not visit annoying family this holiday season! My faith in the world is renewed.

By myself this year. I'm on call for work, so hopefully something will break and I'll get some overtime to make it worth it. I will, however, be enjoying some delicious crock pot ham with potatoes, asparagus and maybe some chai. Top it off with julesnus, and I'm good.

My brother is having Thanksgiving in San Diego, but had to beg off after job lost. No, but happy living on unemployment. Getting $475 a week, so I am OK, and with federal extensions, then state extensions, I am not stressing much about it. Applied for two decent jobs today, not much out there but I look and act every day. Something will come eventually.

Yah man just keep it up and something'll come along.

You get almost $1000 a month?
That's not bad I thought it was way less. Beats worknig minimum wage though. In some ways this recession may be good because it's making everyone think to be more frugal. I'm still employed but i've really cut back on spending by at least half since the recession htis. Building up a little fund incase my company goes down as well.

**** it, let's all move to sweden!

Funny you should say that. My wife suggested the same thing just last night. You have no idea how tempting the idea is. If I spoke swedish, I'd probably be packing already.

Yes, I am incredibly lucky, NC has one of the highest payouts for unemployment. their maximum is about $225 higher than California, even though Cali has a much higher cost of living. Go figure. NC is a funny place. Conservative in some ways, but quite progressive in others.

I know things will work out in the end. Just need to stay patient, and focusing right now on doing some things to take care of myself. I know that when that interview finally comes, I will come off much better than most as I have done very well keeping my head in a healthy space.

I have cut my expenses down to the bare bones, simply don't leak money the way I once did. Am saving a significant chunk of what I am getting so I have a reserve in case things take longer than my extensions, and extensions on top of extensions. Even after I get a job, doubt my expenditures will go up by much. Lessons learned now I plan on keeping in place. I'd rather self insure for the next time someone kicks the legs out from under me.

I'm working. I get to cook 120 turkeys tomorrow plus all the fixings.

                            Yay.

Even though i work in the food service industry (steak house cook) i've got thanksgiving off. I'm excited for the fact that i get to try something i've never had before. Garlic and herb leg of lamb; wasn't feeling turkey this year.

Lucky. I'm working Thanksgiving to have Christmas off with my kids. That's the only holiday I will have had off all year. Not to sound pissy (I'm not, its just 3 am and I'm getting ready to go into work), I knew what I was in for when I chose food service (theme park-beats the crap out of the hotel I worked at), its just hard to develop some of those holiday family traditions with my kids in this business.
