    So who else is jobless??

So just curious who else is without work right now??

I am doing fine. NC is one of the most generous states when it comes to unemployment benefits, getting $474 a week. With federal extensions, should keep getting it at least thorough June of next year. But the joy of sitting around doing nothing is getting old. And damn, it just isn't good out there. In two months, I have yet to get any response for any job I have applied for.

Still a bunch of months away before I start to panic, but it is just getting a bit old.

So who else is sharing my fun??

Ooh, ooh, me, me!! There isn't much out there, and I can't afford to take a BS job. I'm hoping something comes up soon because I'll be running out of unemployment soon :^/

I was unemployed for about 2 yrs before I got this job(just glad I have a girlfriend that worked whom I live with). I've been here about 2 yrs now. I am very unfulfilled, but in this country, I am glad to even have a job. I won't say more, as it may turn into a political rant.

bit over a year ago, i was working for another failing startup, and decided to quit and go freelance.. now a year later, there's 4 guys working with me and we're probably going to have to at least double that next year...

taking control of my destiny was the best thing i ever did, after working for THE MAN for 15 years as a software engineer, freelancing is THE WAY

It used to be, I never had any problem getting a job. I'd often quit a job if I hated it, because I knew I could always get another real quick. Seemed to me, to start getting bad around 2000. I was about to join the Taliban had I not gotten this job. Now I feel stuck here, miserable, because I think I'd be a total idiot to leave it.

Not sure about NC, but if you have any basic office/computer skills, the ticket in CA at least is to go sign up with temp agencies. They almost always have jobs.

What is your line of work again Sage? Would you be willing to move if it meant a job?

I have spen 12 years supervising and managing in call centers, both inbound and outbound. Have done some sales and recruiting works as well.

Temp agencies here don't have anything. We have an unemployment rate over 11%, so that line has long ago been wrung dry.

And no, I won't relocate. As hard as we are, Raleigh will be better sooner than just about most places. Things willturn around, I just have to keep sane while waiting, keep looking and responding to what is out there every day.

Okay so moving to India is out of the question 8) j/k

Just hang in there, i'm sure congress will continue extending unemployment for the foreseeable future since they don't want the backlash of millions of (would be) working americans pissed of at them for letting them drown. So you've got a little bit of time at least. Searching for a new job is a bummer in the first place, i'm sure it's even worse when there are no new jobs.

Unemployed since October. Going back in January for a 6 month or so contract stint then back to being unemployed. Anyone need a database manager?
