    24 hour flu.

Anybody else get this flu thats going around. Seems like now that the Swine flu has passed the seasonal flu is making its rounds.

Nausea/diarrhea come on quick followed by 24 hours of mild fever. Aches and pains linger a bit. I had mine yesterday and now my wife is down. Hoping my 4 year old doesn't have to learn what puking is since he has made it after he was a baby until now.

If it's gone in 24 hours, it's not the flu. Most cases of the "24 hour flu" are actually food poisoning, but barring that, could be a mild communicable gastroenteritis.

Pedantry aside, I had a brief bout of the runs recently too. No one else got it, though, and I'm pretty sure mine was a side effect of the antibiotics I've been taking since The Eye developed a nasty discharge.

I did a quick search since the person that told us it was going around is a nurse and the search said that while it is not influenza the common name for gastroenteritis is stomach flu or the 24 hour flu and is most often viral. But I guess that maybe rules out the seasonal flu.

Feeling better RRK? I'm doing pretty well so far this year. Unemployment has the fortuitous side effect of reducing ones exposure to disease factories :^D

Oh, definitely. Kinda ruined our already delayed decorating weekend. But its rainy here anyway.

I got Gastroenteritis twice in one year, more recently over Labor Day weekend. If it came on immediately and without warning, and you shat and puked your brains out for about 6-8 hours then felt horrible for about 24 hours, that's it. I posted about it in gory detail in the box pass 2.0 thread because it delayed my passing of the box for several days. A few months later and I still have a stupid scar across my nose from getting so dehydrated and dry-heaving so hard on the toilet, that I passed the F out nose first onto my bathtub. I really should've got stitches for that one, because for the rest of my life, everytime I look in the mirror, I think of gastroenteritis. Lol what a bummer. Feel better man, and try not to think about how the virus gets passed along if you don't already know! The thought of it will induce more vomiting

A few years back, my husband got a bad case of gastroenteritis... he was vomiting so hard he blew out a blood vessel on the surface of his eyeball and it looked like someone poured blood all over his eye.

Then came the drizzling (or rather, squirting) shits...

Curiously, I was spared, but I had a similar bug when I was younger so perhaps I was resistant to it.
