    Electric Scooters/City Bike Rentals

So over the last few years, being an urban snuser in the US, if you will, there has been an influx of these scooters and bikes.

Y’all have them where you are?

I love super close to downtown (in the drinking district…well one of them, it is a sport here), and I am in the “zone” for these. I’ll use them to pop downtown when parking is more expensive, or when I have business (like court for work or if there is an event at a park downtown) but not shopping to take care of. I do think they can be a bit of a menace when kids leave them everywhere after riding them to the bars (or home from the bars) but not terrible at all.

What do you think about this “ride share” option?

I live in Peachtree City Georgia. It is well known for all the 13k registered golf carts and we have over 100 miles of paved trails to get around. These electric bikes are freaking everywhere and the riders go so fast its crazy. So yea we got em bad.

On the other hand by buddy in Clearwater Fl just bought an electric 3 wheeler trike and its pretty cool. I thought about getting one but the paths are pretty busy and seems kind of dangerous with the crazy golf cart drivers here. I think I'll stick with my golf cart, its much safer.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I’d love to use just a golf cart, but I still need a car for work so I won’t even get one. Where I live in Tampa it is a short walk for everything I need…except work. Lots of people use them in main roads, and I’m not too sure of the legality of it here, but they get away with it.

I see more of the scooters than the bikes, and it’s mostly University kids, UT and USF, but there’s plenty of business professionals commuting downtown from my neighborhood though, but the rules on where to ride them are super restrictive.

We are getting more dedicated bike lanes and that is a great benefit here, hopefully soon there will be a good network of them here that finally connect and make sense.

Big bike shop where I am not far from Westminster Md, and we see everything from big bikes, gass scooters, regualr bikes, mountain bikes and pro bikes (Lots of Lance Armstrong wannabes) trying to cause accidents on these one lane each way / no shoulder roads in this semi-rural area. If I was in your neck of the "woods", Id have a small car and a gas motorcycle with bags.

Motorcycles get creamed on the regular here. The drivers are trash and do not watch out for bikes at all. I’ve had a friend hit on a motorcycle (he taught a safety course on the weekends, the car hit him in the lane like he wasn’t there) and I’ve had a couple friends get run over on bicycles.

There was a run of mopeds getting popular, but any gas powered vehicle needs to be registered and the police cracked down hard on it. Now it’s all pretty much electric.

I hope one day I will be able to ride your state on a Motorbike, but have heard the drivers are about as bad as here in Maryland. Might have to do with both States having a bunch of transients.

If you ride a bike down here be safe.

I can’t believe how many people are moving to Tampa, at least the Tampa Bay area. The last I saw was about three months ago the paper ran an article saying that an average of 10,000 people moved to the region every month, and it’s been consistent for the past year.

Yeah? Everybody seems to be heading South and/or East from Cali...... I rode out to Cali last year and just by chance kept meeting up with this nice young family at every single hotel each night due East and they were telling me many are heading East to Tn.

There’s a lot of people here who say they want to move to Tennessee, no one I know has made the trip yet. Some people moved here from Tennessee, my current boss did a few years ago. I personally want to move somewhere where there’s better seasons, I can’t do nine months of summer, two weeks of fall two weeks of winter, and the rest spring.

I think it’s funny. I want to move through the weather, but most people I talk to want to move because of politics.

North Carolina might be the sweetspot for you, bit warmer all year round than NY, but not as hot as FL. Dude I was talking to said he and his family left Cali because the politicians ruined their area and taxed them to death. Sigh. Snus, thank goodness for snus.

I’m definitely moving back to NY when my youngest turns 18, going to help my parents. They are aging and won’t move out of their house and are starting to have trouble with the stairs. When it’s time to move from there, probably try a mountainous zone. NC might be the spot…somewhere where it snows. I miss fall and winter, more each year to the point that I’m ready to slog through slushy roads and shovel snow.

I’ve always lived somewhere where I can easily get to the coast/see the ocean or gulf, so moving to western NC might be a good change of pace. Might drive me crazy. As long as there is snus all will be well.

Western NC or Eastern Tn. Mountains is my personal fav. Beautiful areas, but does take a good 4-5 hours to get to the Ocean. Their lakes and dams might keep you sane.

I think I’ll be ok as long as I am close to a metro area. I’m a city kinda guy, I love being out in forests and mountains (camping, vacations), but I’ve always lived in large cities and like the hustle and bustle…as long as there is good public transportation, which Tampa does not have.
