    No, no we can't, apparently.

I have predicted this since the summer of 2009, and it has come to pass:

I am completely sickened and disgusted by the Obama regime.

Now, given that he ran against the Fascist Comedy Duo, I would vote for the man all over again, but still... Enough is enough!

Obama, you promised us "change." I, for one, am still waiting for just the smallest scrap of change. To wit:

    (1) You promised an end to the fascist wars of your moronic predecessor. RESULT: You have decided to continue occupying Iraq. You have decided to escalate the war in Afghanistan. You seem to be hell-bent on picking a fight with Iran. Oh, and now you have a thing against Yemen, as well.

    (2) You promised to stop torture and close the torture-camp at Guantanamo. In fact, you went so far as to order the closure oh-so-many-months ago. Then you said that the deadline would not be met. Then you forgot all about it. RESULT: Torture is alive and well at Guantanamo.

    (3) You promised change to the irrevocably broken Imperial healthcare system. RESULT: still broken; a toothless sham of a deal may or may not get passed in the upcoming century or two.

    (4) You promised to fix the economy. RESULT: You gave more money to the filthy bourgeois. They're doing fine, now; the rest of us, who just so happen to constitute over 99% of the nation that you are supposed to rule, are still mired in an unprecedented depression.

OVERALL RESULT: epic failure. Obama, you are a disgrace to all of those proud to call ourselves left-wingers. There is only one thing in this nation that disgusts me more than your pandering to the ignorant right wing - the ignorant right wing itself. For some reason, these cretins insist on demonizing you for being a "socialist." This is ironic; a real socialist such as myself would have immediately brought all our troops home, nationalized all industry, made torture a capital offense, and made all medical procedures 100% subsidized by the federal government.

In conclusion: Obama, you are almost as ridiculous as the fascists that oppose you. Thank Lenin that you do not recognize that you are on their side. Thank you for defeating McCain, and a resounding "**** you" for selling out to the enemy.

I'm reluctantly unlocking this thread for the time being, but I'll be watching it closely. Faust, you only come here to start shit, and I don't particularly appreciate it. I'm giving you a chance to act like a big boy with some responsibility. If you can't do that this thread will be locked, as will future troll posts. For everybody else, keep it civil, and no personal attacks on other members. Keep in mind, Faust isn't here to debate, it's to start shit. Nobody's changing anyone else's mind on anything in political threads.

As much as I hate to say it, I agree with you. I had high hopes for this guy. I knew he wouldn't live up to all of it, but he hasn't done anything at all, but continue the B.S. Bush started. Very sad.

Another thing, The Repubs. will probably win the next term because of him. Bush was evil, but he didn't really get peoples hopes up.

              Ron Paul was my favorite.

He was definately not perfect but a real choice for change.

We tried to warn everyone but nobody listened and you all drank the KOOL AID! FOOLS

Ron Paul didn't stand a chance. We're a two party system. Period. I hate it, but that's the way it is. I think they should give Ralph Nader his 4 years, he's been trying forever. Call it a Persistent Win.

Lol, Lx, couldn't have said that better myself.

Truthwolf: Awesome picture, love the opium fields. Nothing like being shipped to a foreign country to guard the poppy fields so that "the poor farmers" don't lose out on their crop of drugs which they will then sell in America. Why not just quit the charade and just have our GI's tansport the stuff back home and sell it? Would cut down on the hassle for everyone.
(Oh wait, we did that in Vietnam, n/m)

Judge: Lolz, "the imperial health care system". I never realized how official it sounds when you put "imperial" infront of everything.

Hope you are enjoying all of our imperial freedoms in imperial America, please feel free to enjoy your imperial rights and complain about said imperialness on your imperial grade internet connection, and I hope you and the rest of the left are enjoying your imperial Obama and his imperial agenda.

Wait, since we're the evil empire can we now build a death star?

But don't worry Judge, the dems won't be in for long, the imperial republicans will be back soon enough to continue Obama's imperial agenda under the guise of conservatism, just like he is doing for Bush under the guise of liberalism.

Lol believe it or not I do actually manage to get SOME work done during the day. And you'r right, i'd love to see Ron Paul win but in today's climate I just don't see it happening. He must be running a deficit after all the times he's tried to get elected.

Yebbut.....you forget that the official line is to encourage free market capitalism in these developing countries. For that, they need a valuable cash commodity to sell and corn just doesn't cut it these days if it needs to be shipped 5,000Km to market.

Heroin fits the bill perfectly being valuable and small, and having the US Govt take over the distribution and retail of it would seem to some to be unfair trade practices to these sponsored economies.

Citation needed. Don't recall hearing that official line.

The reality is that we have to fuel these terror cells for "intel" reasons and heroin is their bread and butter so can't cut that off. The poor farmers of course.

Want to fix terrorism? Burn every poppy field in the middle east with white phosphorous. If we don't have any regard for the rules anyways, why not do it? I mean we're down to torture but not down to burn drug fields? We could win the war on drugs and the war on terrorism overnight. There would be almost no more money for these terrorists and maybe some of the people here in Santa Cruz would sober up and do something productive as opposed to occupying their time with jacking things from my car to finance their next hit of smack>terrorism.

Or we could fight a prolonged war overseas while tying the hands of our soldiers with overbearing rules of engagement for another decade...

                          Either way.

What an interesting, albeit unprofessional comment. So any political opinion posted by myself is de facto "trolling" or "stirring shit up?" But a contrary political opinion counts as a "debate?" I'm saddened to see such lack of neutrality from one I assume to be a moderator.

Everyone else, thanks for contributing to this debate!

In your own inimitable way, you have managed to stumble upon a sad truth, my friend:

Yes, when all is said and done, there are no real differences between the two current imperial parties. I like to view them as the two sides of the same coin: it doesn't really matter which side comes up when the coin is flipped - it's still the same exact damn coin.

Predictably, this means that nothing ever changes. The Republicans have been swept out by the Democrats, only to continue the previous Emperor's disastrous and criminal policies. Regardless of what happens 3 years down the line, the policies will still be the same... What amazes me is that Americans have been duped en masse into believing that they live in a democracy, when in essence they suffer under the iron fist of a one-party dictatorship.
